Because of its unusual appearance, this creature is often jokingly referred to as the “penis snake.”
In reality, however, it is neither a snake nor any part of the human body. It is a type of amphibian known as a caecilian, characterized by an elongated body and the absence of limbs.
The resemblance to male genitalia is only superficial, which is why people gave it such a nickname. In truth, it is simply a distinct species of amphibian with a unique body shape.
