Employment growth in Greece in the third quarter of 2020 by 1.2%, compared to the second quarter of the year.

According to Eurostat, the increase in Eurozone for the same quarter was 1%.

In the second quarter employment was decreased by 2.8% in Greece while in the entire Eurozone by 3%.

Working hours for the third quarter increased by 29.9% and 14.8% consecutively after the great drop that happened in the second quarter (-22.6% and -13.6%).

As a conclusion, Eurostat states that while unemployment was not derailed by the coronavirus and was kept under reasonable control due to government support programs, the changes in working hours were unexpectedly very large.

It is worth mentioning that the employment rate growth of 2020s third quarter is the largest ever recorded by Eurostat for eurozone since it started measuring it back in 1995.

If you read carefully between the lines, you can understand that the growth record is actually plasmatic. People are struggling to keep their jobs because of the pandemic. Second quarter is actually the tourist season in Europe and had the biggest drop in employment rate ever recorder also. But you can’t see it in the above statements by Eurostat.

Happy news to hear that Grecce is recovering. I guess it's still pretty rough there since the financial crises?

Yes ofc, that has effected us all

It is good to know that for those Greek people there is opportunity and that they do not get tired of fighting.

Romania is surviving quite well yet in this recession, but I'm curious for how long. We don't have too much industry and tourism did fine this summer.

I understand you my friend. We have the same situation.

I hope for all of us everything goes well
