La inflación daña al mundo entero, gobiernos, compañías, grandes y pequeños negocios, se ven afectados por ella. Pero indudablemente quienes más sufren la inflación son las familias. La economía personal de quienes viven el día a día en los países afectados, se ve disminuida y por ende, la pobreza crece. Muchos eligen la migración regular o irregular como vía de mejorar económicamente para ayudar a sus familias.
Inflation hurts the whole world, governments, companies, large and small businesses are affected by it. But undoubtedly those who suffer the most from inflation are families. The personal economy of those who live day to day in the affected countries is diminished and therefore, poverty grows. Many choose regular or irregular migration as a way to improve economically to help their families.
Pero aun cuando hay personas que envían remesas a sus familiares y amigos en sus países de origen, la inflación sigue afectándolos considerablemente. Los bancos y las compañías de envíos de dinero, como Western Union, imponen cuantiosos impuestos a las transferencias que van directamente al bolsillo de las familias. Máxime cuando se trata de países con sanciones, regímenes totalitarios, guerras o conflictos internos.
But even when people send remittances to family and friends in their home countries, inflation continues to hit them hard. Banks and money transfer companies, such as Western Union, impose heavy taxes on transfers that go directly into the pockets of families. Especially when it comes to countries under sanctions, totalitarian regimes, wars or internal conflicts.
Países con mayores tasas de inflación / Countries with the highest inflation rates
Casos como Cuba, Venezuela, Ucrania, Zimbabwe, Libano, entre otros, encabezan las listas de países con mayor inflación a nivel mundial (véase la lista de Steve Hanke, analista económico). En estos lugares los propios ciudadanos usan alternativas a las tasas del mercado oficial y compañías y bancos internacionales, crece el mercado informal o mercado libre que no solo opera con dinero fiduciario, sino que incorporan Bitcoin y otras criptomonedas como reserva de valor. Sin embargo, los métodos empleados para realizar los cambios de persona a persona (P2P), carecen de infraestructura tecnológica para realizar un proceso rápido y más importante: libre de estafas.

Las comunidades de Facebook, Telegram y WhatsApp, si bien ofrecen un punto de conexión entre los exiliados que envían remesas a sus países de origen y los agentes que las recepcionan y envían el dinero en moneda local a los beneficiarios. También dan espacio a estafadores que se aprovechan de la necesidad de estas personas.
