RE: NFT Mania

Man...

Leo Finance can stand strong feeling proud for what has been accomplished. Nobody here needs a reminder and there's no need to be defensive; replace all that nonsense with confidence.

When I wrote that joke it didn't even occur to me the Leo I was referring to could be replaced with Leo Finance.

As for where I personally stand with NFT's. I'm in no hurry. The brand I developed over the years is exclusive to Hive. I feel the market is too small at the moment. I've also studied the market and feel not only is there a lack of substantial interest but a lot of confusion, animosity as well; even anger and disgust.

At the same time, there is demand. People have expressed interest in my work, so that's encouraging. The scales are still balanced and I like to look on the bright side.

In the past in this community, artists have been targeted with massive downvotes for no apparent reason other than pure hatred for the product. Some felt like they were being bullied. Needless to say, I'm noticing a trend. It's "garbage," okay, I get it. Maybe they left, but I won't. I could list several more instances where I've felt or have observed others being treated like shit. But if all really bothered me I would have left during my first month being here.

I hope you realize it's only the crypto crowd and NFT buyers hoping to flip NFT's for a profit. That behavior has nothing to do with artists. No real artist is trying to scam or rip anyone off. I've seen a lot of shit talking though and artists are being thrown under the bus for no good reason. Most of that shit talking exists well outside the confines of our Hive walls, but that doesn't make it sting any less.

purposefully pushed onto unsuspecting victims

Yeah and when I'm done with them I'll chop their arms off and glue a red wig to their head like I did this guy...

I don't want to place my product in front of people who don't want to buy it. I don't want to be forced to price low because a high price is frowned upon by people who wouldn't even buy it, but will talk shit and call me a scammer.

I don't want to take my product elsewhere. Maybe with the new recurring payments thing and possibility of paywalls, I can find a new way to monetize my content that way in order to extend it's shelf life beyond the seven day potential pay period.

There's also the part about minting an NFT, pricing it incredibly high, and selling the full rights and concepts behind some of the characters I've made and can continue to make. Much like a song writer selling their songs to anyone interested in singing it. I thought about taking that approach and attracting outside money into Hive that way. It might be a business model you're not familiar with, so I'll spare you the details.

So that's where I stand, for now. And if you don't like art, that's cool. Just try to ignore what the first three letters of 'ARTicle' spell the next time you go to write one.

It will all work out in the end.
I'll jump on the NFT train soon enough.
