"Half the people that comment dont read it anyways, they just ask some question that's already answered in the post so they can get an upvote from @lbi-token. Nothing wrong with wanting an upvote but just saying, the writers do notice that alot of questions asked are answered in the post they are commenting too and it's like, did they read the post? Im sure a few do read whole posts, just saying is all as we do get good questions as well."
As much as I like the Hive-based blogging monetisation approach, this is actually its main drawback. People don't actually have to read anything to reward authors.
Other solutions like Coil (www.coil.com) mostly solve that problem by paying authors in real-time for watching/reading posts.
This big gap is exactly the reason why I maintain a blog that is both Hive-monetised and Coil-monetised.
In all fairness, I am far too busy with other things to update my blog regularly, but I do feel strongly about favoring that hybrid approach :) (you can find it here btw: https://blogs.mg.social/whydoitweet/)

I've never heard of this coil before. Just scanned the site, looks interesting. Saved for later. Thank you

I've been part of it since the start actually. The platform has its own set of drawbacks (monthly subscription required of $5 to reward creators, no clear upvoting mechanism), but I feel it does have some advantages that Hive has missing at the moment.
Perhaps one could consider setting up a Coil-like streaming payment system for Hive? Not sure if that is possible though (with the Hive ledger working a bit differently than the XRP one).
