If you guys have read any of my previous posts, then you'll obviously know 2 things:
1 - I absolutely LOVE $ATOM aka Cosmos Blockchain/Ecosystem, as it has massive potential to disrupt Ethereum's market dominance for a variety of reasons - mainly cheaper, faster transactions (due to way less congested networks and faster protocols), and also because of IBC, an absolutely revolutionary new protocol that aims to allow all blockchains to communicate and transact with one another - without the need for wrapping tokens or expensive processes.
2 - I also effing LOVE airdrops (I mean, who doesn't love free money?), as evidenced by my creation of an actual Upcoming Airdrop Schedule spreadsheet a few weeks ago. Any time I discover new airdrops, you bet your ass I'm one of the first on the scene to investigate and make sure I'm eligible to receive those freebies. I also actively write about these airdrops and share about them whenever I can through my Hive posts - just go back and read some of my previous posts and you'll find this to be 100% true.
Now, I'm insanely excited for today's post, because it incorporates BOTH of these above-mentioned points - meaning I'm in absolute effing HEAVEN right now!

Ah I meant to tag you about this! It's not live yet, however, I will have a post up on Hive tonight detailing my plan for the validator, and then will be messing around with getting it set up tonight. We need to break into at least the top 100 to start earning rewards, and the #100/99 are roughly staking about 18k OSMO.
So between myself, a client of mine that's buying a bunch tonight, a few other buddies, and you, hopefully, we can get close to that, depending on how much you're willing to bring over!
Also, if we can bring a bunch of people over within the first 24-48 hours, I'm willing to even bump the initial rebate value up by 0.5% for all rebate staking tiers in my validator for the first 30 days :)
I Will tag you tonight when I post the validator post here so you can check it out and leave your thoughts - I've gathered up all the build docs/tools/etc and chatted with a few other people that have set up validators, so this should be a fun project!
Plus, if this first validator goes well, then I definitely plan on expanding into launching validators for other Cosmos ecosystem tokens/projects, as well as other tokens outside of Cosmos :D

I've been MIA around LEO for a while, real life has been crazy busy, but OSMO is printing me a really nice position to give me some better options for next year to maybe get out of FIAT work all together.
If I was a validator, I'd be building links to the new projects launching to get a foot in the door, and a position early at launch or soon after, and keep an eye on chains that increase their validator set and pounce on those opportunities - like Persistence at the moment (XPRT) currently voting to increase from 50 - 75.

Oh, I hear you there!
Yeah, I am very confident that downtime and slashing will NOT be an issue - Whatever it takes on my end to make that a reality, will be done.
OSMO is absolutely KILLING it for me - my daily yield is literally higher than average American take home right now - and the fact that it runs 24/7/365...beautiful.
Tracking the results on my spreadsheet for the past 20 days has just been phenomenal to watch. And this, in addition to my normal work? GG.
Hopefully, my idea for building out validator farms and growing it into something large that spans across various blockchains and tokens, essentially creates an opportunity to just push that as my main source of $.
I do like your suggestions, and I'll definitely take a look at XPRT - perhaps you and I should chat further, we might be able to do something with this idea with you working on chasing down new opportunities, and myself focused on the infrastructure and economics/feasibility of it all. This could become something big!

Definitely recommend staking in your own wallet (Exodus, Keplr, etc) - I wouldn't count on Coinbase when it comes to staking. There are another 5+ that I'm going to share in the next day or so as well - Q4 is absolutely MASSIVE for both the ATOM token itself, as well as the entire Cosmos ecosystem.

Ah, I'm actually not launching an ATOM validator, but rather, an OSMO validator. It's another token within the Cosmos / IBC ecosystem!

Yep! Osmosis is awesome. Would love to have you on board once we go live, should you choose to join us! As long as the first validator launch goes well, I'll probably focus on getting others live for other Cosmos tokens as well.
Where do you stake it?
Various wallets have staking options directly integrated. You can also stake through various DeFi platforms (like Osmosis.zone), and even some exchanges like Binance, etc.

What are benefits of staking ATOM? Is it a governance token? Does it provide access to blockchain bandwidth like RCs on Hive?
Staking offers an APR of ~10%, so you earn a nice interest rate. It also does have Governance properties.

I do not believe so, unfortunately. I personally don't touch the LPs much, only about 1.5% of my stake is tied up in LPs, the rest is actually staked (OSMO + ATOM).

EDIT: Apologies, the original post below I thought was in regards to the post I made yesterday about the OSMO validator I was starting up.
In regards to ATOM tokens staked, there's no minimum - however, the amount of airdropped tokens you'll receive for each service of course is dependant on how many ATOM tokens you stake.
So, the more you stake, the more you're entitled to receive. So nab up as many as you can and stake away since it's free money!
Plus, ATOM is growing insanely lately, and in my personal opinion, will continue to do so - I do not believe we've even scratched the surface of where ATOM will reach a blow-off top - things are just beginning for this bad boy ;)
ORIGINAL POST:
Right now, the focus is on OSMO tokens (not ATOM) - if the OSMO validator launches live and is successful, then I will also focus on ATOM, AKT, and others.
Currently, it seems we have roughly 10k OSMO that people are willing to allocate to my validator - which is about 40% of the goal I'd like to hit in order to keep us in the top 100 so that we actually are able to validate and generate fees.
I'm willing to offer very large rebates for the first wave of people that are interested in helping get this validator live and off the ground / into the top 100.
The staking APR right now is around 177% - meaning the APY (if you restake earnings daily to compound earnings) can be as high as 900%+ - there are MASSIVE rewards to be earned right now. In the past 29 days, I've earned over 5k USD in earnings off of somewhat insignificant amount of OSMO staked.
If you're interested, let me know - I am going to create a poll/form to allow people to submit their usernames and how much OSMO they'd be willing to stake to this validator, so that I can calculate whether or not it's worth it to bear the overhead costs to get this live!

Unfortunately not live at the moment, still gathering up support / looking at options for potentially buying more coins myself to boost stake up enough to at least bust into the low 90s/80s spot so that the validator is actually able to generate revenue - otherwise, no one earns anything :/
