I actually love the idea of using ad revenue to reward stakeholders. It gives them incentive to behave in a certain way, where it's in their best interest to share and build as much as possible
Always wondered how come no one used ads as leverage to attract new stakeholders.
On the other hand, you can always gamify ads, it doesn't have to be intrusive or annoying though, projects can play around on how to make it more fun.

That is all true. When the decision is made to go forward in a direction like this, innovation can take place. Projects than can play around and seek ways to enhance what they are doing.
