In Hive what you really need to keep save is only ONE private key- the master password (key). All others , posting, active, owner and memo - can be retrieved from the master with a few mouse clicks. There is a method to replace long string of master key with a bunch of more easy to remember meaningfull English words. Which possibly are more easy to remember. But I would not recommend to rely on memorizing anything. Very riscky. Smth you can remember tomorrow or after 4 weeks, can become "mission impossible" after 5-10 years. Proven many times.

@onealfa through the puzzle i also learnt so much about the importance of security of our keys,a bad security of our keys is dangerous for us because we loose all what we have if criminals get hold of it.....so learning how to secure our passwords and keys is very important....

yep. $5 wrench is still effective :)

I have made my living as a memory coach for nearly two decades and I would trust my own memory far more than writing my master keyword on a piece of paper or save it on flash drive or even engrave it on a plate of copper and bury it somewhere. What do I do when I travel and don't want to take my key with me and maybe never return? None of these techniques are really something I find entirely comfortable. However, memorizing 20-30 computer generated words with maximum entropy is something incredibly easy and the memory would get better every day - not worse, even after 10 years or more. All you need to do is repeat your associations regularly and more and more protein called myelin will be wrapped around the neurons, multiplying recall speed and accuracy. It would become a stronger memory than your own name. I have done that many times and the only way to forget is by stop doing regular recalls and let a long time pass or by having a major brain defect like a stroke.
Besides, holding the master password in your memory like this could be an additional option, next to having a physical or digital copy somewhere, just in case. You could then rely in 99% of all cases on your memory and only in the worst case scenario need to get the shovel and dig out your copper plate. And like you said, you could rely on your Posting Key and Active Key anyways most of the time. Which you could ALSO memorize like that, given the right encryption method.
I admit that I am probably an exception when it comes to that but to me this is the ideal solution. I have been looking for an option like that since I joined Steem in 2017 and not yet found one. So IF you should stumble upon an open source encryption tool that uses BIP39 for Hive keys (or whatever might work as safely as the MetaMask seed phrase), I would be incredibly interested in knowing about that.

Very interesting to read all this.
Quite shocking to read this. How this is even possible? 😀
This (repeat-regularly) is probably the hardest part. Not for everybody. Certainly - not for me
This is exactly what worries me most. Regular recalls?....pfe!
What I'm concerned most about, however, is a very long time spans, 5, 10, 20 years. Then again, stroke or Alzheimer disease is always on the list.
I'd better rely on a 23 BIP39 words engraved on a stainless steel or Titan plate, with a strong, long security phrase (which I possibly could memorize, or keep separately).
(yes, 23+1, how many yet know 24th word is easy selectable from 8 options, and can be used as fake, to fool accidental founder?)
Then there is also one more option, BIP85, for those super super paranoid.
+Steganography to put smth online. (not all eggs in one basket!) 😀
I'll keep in mind what you are looking for.
One of the easiest way I can think of today - is changing you HIVE account's master private key into some custom, easy for you to memorize word phrase, with the help of your recovery account (dalia-silvana).
With this new memorized word-phrase (can be 12, or 24, or 30, or what ever length you want), you can retrieve other posting/active keys very easy, with proper tools both online and offline

First of all, there is a growing amount of people worldwide who are getting incredibly good at that. Here is a video from Yanjaa, who I have met at the World Memory Championships. She is one of the best in the world with words and names, although she is not active anymore and others are now far better than what she is showing here. (My own record is 28 words in 60 seconds but I haven't been training that in a few years.) Keep in mind that this is merely an example of speed, using the same techniques. I want to show you what is actually possible. For memorizing a key we would take all the time we need and don't rush anything.
Today, we know a lot about how the memory works. We didn't know much of that 20 years ago. Modern day memory athletes using ancient memory techniques have actually helped with the research of the field a lot. I am sure many of my colleagues would support me in the thesis, that we can trust our memory to recall a string of words with sufficient repetitions. However, we cannot trust our memory as a witness in an accident, where we easily create false memories.
Regarding the repetition: It is not necessary to repeat every day. In fact, the more often you repeat, the larger grows the interval until you need another repetition. At first you do it daily, then every few days, then every few weeks, then maybe once a month, even up to a year for the next repetition. However, with such a delicate information, I would suggest to not grow the repetition to a larger interval than on weekly basis.
The repetition itself is far from boring and time intensive. Your mental stories need to be creative and colorful and will quickly become familiar and dear to you. Revisiting is fun and enjoyable. In my experience, this is always true, no matter what you actually memorized. The time to repeat 20-30 words is even for an untrained person easily doable in 2-3 minutes. For me it would probably just take ~20 seconds. Less with more experience. That being said, I would probably repeat my Hive pass phrase daily, just because it would be so fast and so powerful to strengthen the memory further.
I am not familiar how this process works with the recovery account but I would love to learn more about it. But using EASY words sounds counter-intuitive and lowers entropy. I would not want to risk that. Hence, since we cannot choose the words ourselves and need to ensure maximum entropy, we would need a random word generator to get a bunch of words, some of which might be hard to create an association for. With a little bit of experience, this gets much easier. No word is too hard, it just might be a little bit of a brain twister when you do create your associations for the first time.
THIS is what I want to learn!
