I guess if you are looking at crypto assets, that is true. But if you consider the blockchain technology behind cryptocurrency, then comparing it to an email is selling it short. The blockchain technology can be the future backbone of databases, and it is possible that we can't use a lot of facilities without it if we get mass adoption.
