AI is an abbreviation for Artificial Intelligence, which means that it is artificial not natural intelligence.
I've come across a lot of people saying that AI will take a lot of jobs as the world moves to a full AI generation. Some times I laugh and work away sometimes I correct their impression about AI.
AI uses the machine learning to process information which means it is artificial which can never be natural. It can't think on its own, it only follows the instructions given to it by humans.
Humans write and execute the code that the AI runs on. If humans write the codes how will AI build itself? AI only tries to think like humans but not humans. That means their knowledge is limited.
Getting an updated jobs: A lot of jobs are outdated base on the invention of AI technology, as usual.
In 19th centuries, when alarm clock was manufactured, a particular job vanished "The Knocker-Up". The knocker-up was one of the most crucial job as of then where people will need to move the streets, tapping and to knocking at peoples door to wake them up early in the morning. Factories had to employ knocker-up workers as they were very important.
But what made the occupation disappear? The emergence of a new technology "Alarm clock".
How does AI works?
Many thinks that AI thinks on it own which makes them believe that it's creative to create something or do exerctly what humans can do.
Here is the fact: AI works on algorithms and data given to it by humans, this data is from our daily behaviours, humans programmed the AI and feed it with this data so that it can try to be have like humans but not humans. Because it lacks the ability to be creative and do something new.
Even the advance AI needs humans like data analyst, programmers, and others to draft, build and provide the data needed by the AI to be able to execute the task.
AI is reshaping todays job just as the alarm clock reshaped the knocker-up jobs, it only helps make work faster doing that repetitive jobs, analyzing markets and even doing thr riskier jobs.
However, ai will create new opportunities like AI trainers, programmers, data securities and lot more as companies are integrating AI.
AI, just like the alarm clock that displaced the knocker-up workers is a took that will transform but not destroy peoples jobs.
It can only do that by handling the repetitive tasks, and dangerous ones. Just as the factory workers adapted to the alarm which was the new technology we should embrace AI. Insteade of fearing that AI will take over our jobs we should get prepared for the future by learning and updating ourselves for the future so that we will not be left behind.
