When rambshackle countries think they are cool

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Recently FNB (First National Bank) South Africa decided they want be part of the in crowd. This is inline with South Africa thinking they should do what all the retard white countries do, aka pathetic covid rules etc.

FNB blocks Bitcoin credit card purchases from overseas

Now obviously we add our own unique African flavour and although FNB blocking crypto purchases is not as harsh as it seems. It is still just a gateway to further Africanization which is what our country does so well. Not as bad as Middle-easternization...

Don't lose your heads now, but there are still many options for those in South Africa.

The most notable of which might be Luno, although they are rather shit and have not made any progress in years. Stagnant tech is the worst.

The better option would be Valr , they at least try to improve and both options provide direct withdrawal to your bank account.

A possibly in risk option, which for now is still viable is generating disposable visa cards via VcPay

They take 2% but really the convenience is what you pay for.

The last options would be in line with p2p and specifically Binances p2p option. It takes a bit of learning but using the express option removes a lot of hassle and after testing it myself it is a reliable last resort if you pay attention. You can get 5% kickback on stuffs using my referral link if you do not have a Binance account yet.

With that, we will see how South Africa proceeds to destroy the last good feature they had. Seeing as they are currently burning the coast down and destroying lives across the country.

I expect nothing more from Africa and the world at large.

Wassup man? Quite awhile back you made a mentioned Cardano. Good call.

Oh nice, you got to make a bit with the upswing now? Goodluck, to the moon haha.

FNB are greedy, charged an arm and a leg using PayPal in previous years, closed that account....

Good to read about Valr will take another look when Durban stops burning, still kak everywhere!

Let us know how the Binance goes, will look into VC Pay thanks for links and info. Stay safe!

Yeah, I mainly went to FNB because capitec and Absa both kept screwing with my online purchase ability. I used Vcpay while by them instead then with FNB it just became simple and for things like withdraw from ATM without card but their Paypal " purchase" workaround halfass job they did is stupid. Then again Paypal and them belong together.

I used the Binance P2P last week to test and they give you a lot of control, albeit might end up with funds locked if you try cancel and the buyer appeals it. So both get no funds. I think many people slip up and allow the purchase close to "expiry" because of the misleading labelling and wording used. I let mine expire and the guy also was quite adamant in his description to no leave bad reviews etc instead contact him on whatsapp, he was just busy so I waited a few minutes and he paid. All good in end. So be wise who you choose for P2P and now think I can probably contact him direct since it seems like his job.

I started using Valr after Luno refused to do something about only supporting Eth and Bitcoin, Valr at least has XRP and for transfers that does work out a bit cheaper unless you time ETH well, @chekohler keeps telling me of another place but I always forget.

**P.s I am fortunate to be more inland about 100km from Jozi but the mining towns might not face too much trouble. Hope you all are able to get through without too much damage and maybe it will tighten the communal reigns so to speak which is something SA needs.

Since I only buy Bitcoin I am basically stuck with Luno locally as a way to get in

I did use moonpay to buy Bitcoin directly on the lightning network but now that they blocked credit card payments that option is out

You can still use P2P places like Paxful and localbitcoins!

I moved most of my BTC to cold storage and will knyp it between my ass cheeks all the way to Namibia if needed

Even just for bitcoin I can't like Luno, I sent BAT to them once and it all gone, told them it makes no sense to have the only onramps be the worst tokens on the market, could not find their office on google to burn it down. Thanx lol I always forget those places names.

Thanks for great information about your experiences in crypto from this side.

Our community here still working shifts day/night with SAPS and private security, one of the few areas not devastated having brilliant younger generation being well organized. One cannot express the devastation and fear running rampant through greater Durban region.

Food shortages, fuel shortages and many jobs lost thanks to the powers that be behind this, just stand strong!

Other local shitcoin places are ovex, Cape crypto and altcointrader but not sure how liquid those markets are I don’t use them personally just a by the by
