It's crazy that it is Monday again, and the markets are going wild... again... I wouldn't notice that if I didn't do these report posts every Monday and lately, I was writing almost every time about BTC and crypto just because of these movements... I would probably do the same today if I wasn't triggered by the proverb from the title of this post...
My opinion could bring me a lot of hatred, but I have to vent out and try to show the other side of the coin... I like proverbs in general and many of them are thousands of years old and proven so many times, but still, that doesn't mean that they can be used on EVERY occasion... Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't... I would dare to say that those that are around for centuries are "time-proofed" and probably the older they are the more true they are... But... To find out more, we should research deeper... When and how is that proverb "created", in what surroundings, etc?

The proverb If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it was attested in 1962 and popularized by Bert Lance in 1977. You can check out more about him and the scandal in which he was involved on the Wikipedia page. When you are there, you can check out the short Wikipedia page about this proverb too, where you can find out the description of this saying:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
Leave something alone; avoid attempting to correct, fix, or improve what is already sufficient (often with an implication that the attempted improvement is risky and might backfire).
I know it’s an ugly-looking antenna, but it gets the job done, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
What you can see in the last row is the RIGHT way to use this proverb... When you have something that does the job right, why would you change it...
What bothers me a lot is when people are using this proverb in a "wrong" way... In a way, this article by Johnny T. Nguyen explained the best.
The philosophy “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” shouldn’t be used as a shield to thwart change. Too many times in the face of innovation and change efforts, that phrase is thrown out before the idea is fully explored.
Despite being in crypto where changes are implemented daily, there are still people who like to use this proverb for crypto-related stuff... For example:
Why would we work on raising the number of maximum transactions on our chain when it works fine as it is?"
or
"Why would we change the current system if all (current) participants are happy?"
It's crucial to realize that we are so early in crypto that it's impossible that we have a FINAL PRODUCT in our hands... That we have a perfect coin, perfect blockchain, that doesn't need improvements, that can't be better... Wrongly used the proverb If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it kills the point of experimenting, kills the possible improvements, kills the curiosity (Yes, it can kill the cat, but it can be very useful to stay (be) curious 🙂)... and maybe the most important... kills the possibility for mass-adoption! When you are in your bubble, all comfy, everything is perfect FOR YOU, but that doesn't mean it is PERFECT for EVERYONE!
Maybe you have noticed that caveman that I added to the standard WB Pool image... If they implemented this proverb, we would still have a cube stone wheel... Because... it works...

Back to the Workerbee report numbers! This week we lost one delegator, but we got a few more new delegations from existing members. Thanks for your additional delegations!
In the last 7 days we mined 96 BEE tokens in total!!!
This POOL doesn't have fees and you get up to 20% MORE by delegating to it!
What about the bonus tokens?
This week, the bonus rewards are paid out in the CTPSB tokens! While the beginnings of the token are connected with the CTP tribe, after issues that the tribe had, the CTPSB token went in a different way which helped it to grow... Today, it is a completely independent project, mostly based and backed by Hive and HivePower... That gives it stability and slow growth... To be honest, I have several tokens in my HODLing portfolio as I like that way of thinking and developing...
There will be distributed 2.5 CTPSB tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!
As always, in the end, let's give the exact numbers for this week... There will be distributed 96 BEE tokens and 2.5 CTPSB tokens as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 9.126%, and when we added the bonus it went up to 11.284%!
I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens at the moment of creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...
Do you want to sponsor the PH-Pool with your tokens, receive a short SPONSORED segment in this post, and raise awareness about your front-end or dApp? Please let me know in the comment section, or contact me through Discord or Twitter and we will find the best solution for both parties...
If you want to join the WorkerBee PH-Pool, the only thing that you have to do is to STAKE tokens to YOUR account and DELEGATE your staked WORKERBEE tokens to THIS account (@ph1102)! Every week you will get your portion of mined BEE tokens and BONUS rewards!
.:. DO NOT STAKE TOKENS TO MY ACCOUNT!!! Just DELEGATE! .:.
All payments will be made after publishing this post...
If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section!
You can find more about this pool in the initial post here https://inleo.io/hive-119826/@ph1102/workerbee-p-h-ool-let-s-help-each-other
Thank you for your time,
~ph~
PS. @lemonp8ste refund 6/9 (26.98425 WORKERBEE in total), for mistakenly staked WB tokens will be sent.

We got a similar proverb saying "it's not to be touched something that works", I agree with that for most of the fields where it can be applied, being it health, or other stuff, but for crypto I share your opinions more
In most cases, it depends on the "phase" of development of a certain product/thing/event... Crypto is still in the "experimental phase" and experimenting with it is the opposite of "don't do anything"... It requires innovation, and sometimes even breaking things, just to make them better!
I have seen so many times in companies where they buy a new software solution to replace or improve something that is being done at the moment. The results are usually alot of pain for those supposed to use the new system and it doesn't work as it should as not all variables could be considered or there are exceptions etc. But maybe I'm just skeptical 😅
With regards to crypto, I think there are plenty of things that are broke and could do with fixing, such as the metamask UI, ETH gas fees to name but a few. We need to get to a place like we have now with the internet, you switch it on and it works, before we had to dial up, configure TCP/IP protocols etc and that is now all gone.
Hehehee... I know EXACTLY what you wanted to say... 😃 Many times happened to me, but if we were scared of improvements, we wouldn't progress at all... It is painful, but after a week/months of adapting, usually, the result is more effective and it gives better results in the long term...
On the other side, getting older sucks, and accepting changes is getting harder and harder... lol... The best example that I can take from my personal experience is that I hate doing things on my phone, while some people do EVERYTHING on their phone... lol... 😂 I mean, blockchain stuff, surfing on the Internet, emails, chatting, etc.
It certainly depends a lot on what your doing and having some context I think. You are right about making improvements.
I feel you with the age thing, although our phones are great and useful, I need a big screen to operate!
Hahahaha... I remember joking with my parents 15 years ago when my mom asked for a mobile phone with bigger numbers... 😂
What goes around, comes around... Now I want a bigger screen, bigger keyboard, etc.
In my job, I'm in exactly that position (CTO) - I decide when to replace things and when to leave things on the old hardware and software. But, in the world of software and hardware, that's easy, you always have duplicates running in parallel for all critical systems and if the new solution doesn't work, you keep the old one.
Now, how to estimate all the costs involved is tricky, but in principle, until things are right, you don't go from scratch.
I don't have that much experience in the blockchain world, except here at Hive. There are hard forks where new functionality is added to the system and sometimes it doesn't go smoothly but it's just as duplicated. With tokenomics, I don't know, if you're running the pool the way you envisioned it, it's fine. Maybe the evolution not revolution rule applies here.
Well said! Most of the time, it is UPGRADING things to be better/faster/more effective... It can be a pain in the ass to do these upgrades, but when the job is well done, it pays off in the long term!
Well, up to another update 😜
I think I agree with you, since we are masters of our own environment, which we can change or maintain as we wish, but everything gets rough when more people are involved... That's why we are small groups in our personal projects hahaha, but obviously the reality is different for everyone. I will never understand when someone wants to change what I see perfect, but sometimes I see myself benefiting from those changes with time (or maybe I just adapt to the new reality). Greetings Bro!...
That's nicely said! It is very hard to be objective when something suits us and it's hard to find some flaws in things... But, on the other side, very often we do benefit from the changes that someone else did and we weren't aware of! That's why it's important to experiment with things, as you never know how beneficial the result could be... On the other side, mistakes are likely to happen, but that shouldn't stop us from trying to improve!
All this is easy to say, but not that easy to DO! 😃
Hehe the Monday effect again!
Hmm I think it depends on the situation for the idiom - there are times when changes are needed but I think we shouldn't also change for the sake of changing as well.

Well said... Doing too many updates/upgrades just for the sake of an upgrade makes no sense... Someone left a great comment here giving an example exactly for that... iPhone upgrades and launched of "new phone" models 😃

What if we decide to correct something that’s about to break and it later became of our benefit?
Must we really wait for something to break before we decide to get it fixed?
Exactly! That's the point of the post! It's kind of doing preventions instead of fixing... Try to stay healthy, instead of getting sick and drinking pills to get better!
I'll acknowledge it's a saying that doesn't directly work for crypto. In crypto, evolution makes the product better, there's need to constantly fix, refix and stay with the trend, else the product will stay less attractive by the day. Crypto projects needs fixing because the tech itself advances everyday.
Yup! It works like that... and if we look in the past and try to be objective... The banking system was working, but we were still looking for a better solution... And here we are, communicating on a blockchain, accumulating tokens/money without 3rd party... It wasn't broken, but we found the fix... 😃
Exactly, it wasn't broke. As for the banking system, we all knew we could do better, away from the control and centralization and limitations
Where would humanity be if there were no experiments, if we did not try to improve something that was good...
We would still be in a cave admiring the invention of the wheel 🙂
You need to experiment and research, but as seckorama wrote, take care to always leave a backup, because if you don't have it, the experiment can cost you a lot.
Example in my country, replacing the core system of a mobile operator. In the desire to create a better and more modern solution, they performed an upgrade, but without the possibility of restoring the databases to the old software, and caused a collapse, which has been going on for 5 months...
In your example, it is obvious that they did an amateur job and didn't think well about the consequences, the backup, and other variables that we aren't even aware of...
In general, it is like you said... Without experimenting and figuring out different "approaches" we would still use the cube wheel... because it works...
Mobile operator A1 Serbia.
Maybe I could understand their decision, if they didn't have a six-month problem when they did the same thing in Bulgaria.
Maybe that's why the CEO was changed? 🙂
I am a bit mixed about it. Letting things run until it breaks does make things easier but it could also make it more costly at the end. If you find an issue early, then you might not need to pay as much to fix it but if you wait till everything is broken, then it might be costly to fix.
Thanks for running the pool and for the BEE/CTPSB tokens
That's an interesting point of view that I like! As always, we are coming to the same conclusion, it is all about the balance and good timing!
We use similar expressions a lot in Turkey. People love to intervene in everything. As long as something works, you shouldn't tamper too much xd
I suppose that we have to find somewhere in the middle... It is always about the right balance and trying to be better...
Nice to see that the APR is still good after a while I didn't see it 😂🤣 and thanks for the bonus 👍

!PIZZA
!LOL
Well, I'm calculating the APR with the current prices of WORKERBEE and BEE tokens... as WB went down and BEE stayed almost the same as it was a week ago, the APR numbers went up a bit... ;) But, it is nice to see it over 10% 🙂

Hahahaha.. well said! 🤣
True!
We should research deeper when trying to build around old proverbs, maybe changing times could change their validity
That could be the case... Sometimes they "expire"... 🙂
Yes. Thanks for your encouragement
