The number of monitors that can be connected to the same system depends on the number of video outputs that the video card has. My video card has 4 video outputs and that is why I connected 4 monitors.
There are also alternative solutions to connect multiple monitors even when there is only one video output but they require the purchase of external devices or the use of special and specific cables
