We are in the era when things are moving so fast and the next internet revolution is in process. This next internet revolution is called web 3.0 and this is in process. Internet will not be the same anymore and this next form of the web which is called 3.0 will bring us more innovation and a bunch of dapps. Let's try to understand a bit about web 1.0 and 2.0 to see how things have transformed and what significant change will come to us when we get the transformation of web 3.0
Web 1.0
Its the first generation of the internet that was started in the year 1990 which enabled us internet access through dotcom domain. With this we got the functionality to get the information with ease however it was not so advanced so the amount of information was limited. We got the connection with technology and started exploring possibilities that can bring more things online. Google, Yahoo, and MSN used to be the leader of that time because of limited resources to get the information. Since it was the beginning of this web era so whatever was available, it was good to make our life easy through various ways. This was also the time when the number of content creators was too less and people are not seeing a sector to start working in.
Web 2.0
With the next generation of web 2.0, there was significant improvement and increase in content creators. With more people, involvement information availability became easier and it was also presented much better than what it was in the earlier versions. Here in the generation of the web we some other kinds of stuff like-
- Social Media
- Social Networking
- Blogging
- Content page tagging
- Podcasts
- Platforms to connect with people across the world
- Video streaming platforms
Websites also got improved and faster so the search information became even easier. Many tools were made available for us to get updated information and many industries started adopting them to make the information accessible for their users. Banking is one of the segments that has got significant improvement with this. Communication is another part that is also got improved and we got many apps to make it available for everyone.
Web 2.0 is quite advanced but it has nothing to do with blockchain and platforms are controlled by big tech companies and users are treated as a product by them. Our content and information are safely handled and companies are using them for their revenue generation.
Web 3.0
This is the latest version of the internet which is backed by the blockchain. Here apps and other services will be will running on the blockchain network. With web 3.0 decentralization is another part that is playing an important role in this internet. Web 3.0 is still under development and the best of it is yet to come-
- With decentralization, control is given to users, and censorship is removed which is one of the biggest problems in web 2.0
- Since web 3.0 runs on the blockchain and crypto is also rewarded on th content so this is an opportunity for creators to earn through content.
- Single id and password are good enough to access a bunch of services on the same blockchain network which is made easy to access for users.
- Users have a variety of options to invest in crypto with full control and they need not to go through the complex process.
As we know that the best of web 3.0 decentralization is yet to come and we are just at the beginning of this era. With the amount of development, we can see much more happening in coming years. For example, we have a bunch of dapps on the hive network and a single id and password is enough to use these dapps. Web 30.0 with full fledge functionality will have numerous dapps and easy mobile functionality. People are getting to this and in coming years we are going to witness a great transition from web 2.0 to web 3.0
