No your eyes do not deceive you. Thats a Splinterlands tournament listed with nearly $40,000 USD worth of SPS in the rewards pool. Just when I thought this game known as Splinterlands couldn't getting any wilder the founders go and do something crazy like this. Shit is getting real folks, this is life changing money with a realitively small group of players battling for it. Word is getting out and the Splinterlands player base is growing at lightening speeds. With tournaments featuring more money then many earn yearly you can bet that growth isn't going to slow down anytime soon. Enjoy the realitively smaller player fields while you can because there's a good chance once the masses take notice you might find yourself surrounded by new hungry Splinterland players that want their piece of the tournament pie and they aren't going to let you or your monsters get in their way!

The SPS entry cost for each tournament is dependent on your league level. If you want to see what the tournament entry cost is for you head on over to Splinterlands and go to the events tab. Click on any tournament and a new window will open that will display the tournament lobby and the cost of joining. Looking at the overall tournament schedule we can see there's over $168,000* USD in rewards up for grabs this upcoming month. To put that in perspective the total USD amount of rewards given out over the full course of tournaments life span is $312,000*. There is more USD worth of rewards being given out this month then 50% of all other tournaments combined (That is an insane growth in rewards given out). Not a tournament player yet? I bet you will be now.

Those are some great rewards for the SPS tournaments. But a 980 SPS entry fee is pretty steep. I may pass on a few of the big money tournaments and concentrate on the little $ ones. They are more my speed.

How about that market cap by the way? Do you think we will break $200 million by the end of this week?

Buy in depends on league level. It cost less to enter for those in the league the tournament is played in.

The market cap is insane, about a 4 million USD growth in under 14 hours. I suspect 200 Million is in our very near future. Its possible we see it by the end of the week.

I thought buying cards might start slowing down a little, but after seeing two cards get snapped up while I was looking at them, I'm changing my mind. If anything I'm starting to think card buying may be accelerating. Over 16,000 new Spellbooks were purchased in just the last two days.

Tournaments are intense. I always lose, but are good to practice.

Its getting harder to win in battle then it once was. Keep plugging away and a tournament win will be in your future.

This game is becoming something big and a strong support for the development of Hive. I hope to see other companies sponsoring tournaments.

The recent growth has been insane. Sponsored tournaments are happening and I suspect more to come in the future.

This is wild, but tournaments scare me because I don’t like to lose

Don't think of it as losing. Think of it as practice for when you win :)

For that money, I can buy a small townhouse in here in South Africa!!

The rewards are getting intense.

I would join if not of the insane Power requirements which will suit whales only....

Its to protect the value of the cards and the game itself. There's a $600* Novice tournament on 8/30/2021 with a 1.5 SPS entry cost. Power needed is just 720+, this is a great deal!

A one month old player here and this is the first online game I have been playing since PVZ.

I still don't get it how this tournament works. Do you have any step by step guide to explain both the pros and cons in joining a tournament?

Lots of pros: The biggest pro is their fun value. Tournaments are releatively cheap to join as long as you stick to the ones in your own league. Tournaments outside of your league will often have a higher entry fee. This helps keep sharks out of lower league tournaments and lower league players out of high league tournaments.

Cons: The only con I can see is that its not wise to play in tournaments in which one doesn't have the proper leveled cards to play in. A very good player has a chance in battle with lower leveled cards vs. a team of higher level cards. However it will be very difficult to consistently place in tournaments in which one doesn't have the correct leveled cards for.

Types of tournaments:
(1) Live: These start at the exact time displayed in the tournament lobby. If you don't show up after registering you do not get your entry fee back.

(2) Anytime: These usually last for 24 hours but can last longer. A player has until the advertised amount of hours to enter their teams all at once. To view all your battles wait until the tournament is over and watch the replays.
