Land was once the talk of the Splinterverse but recently the excitement for Land has seemed to simmer down drastically. Land Plots were once selling for over $1,000 USD and at an introductory price of $5-$10 USD that was one heck of a profit range. To be fair Plots are still selling for roughly $140 USD which is still a nice bump in price compared to the original cost per Plot. What has caused such fluctuations? The main factor is the bear market but aside from that; These price fluctuations for Plots and other forms of Splinterland Lands is likely due to functionality not being fully implemented yet. I fully expect that once card staking and reward earning is introduced the excitement and buzz will be back in full force. Which will likely mean a price increase. So for those of you who haven't purchased land yet (but want to) its my opinion that the today's price of land is near bottom. Sure there might be some small fluctuations due to the ever changing HIVE Price but overall I don't think we will see any drastic moves in any direction until card staking and reward earning on land is implemented. If I was tossing new Fiat in cryptocurrency/Hive Blockchain/Splinterlands the very first thing I would be looking at is PLOTS of Land.
Recent Plot Trades

Personally I own a very small number of PLOTS (Eight in total) but I have been keeping a close eye on the price of HIVE and the amount needed to purchase a PLOT. Since I'm in the HIVE accumulation business, it is the Plot price in HIVE which interest me the most. As the USD value of HIVE increases it takes less HIVE to purchase a PLOT of land. Over the past weeks the HIVE token has been increasing in USD value. Today (02/21/23) one HIVE Token is valued at roughly $0.47 USD. This increase has allowed PLOTS to cost less in HIVE while holding their USD value. If HIVE continues to rise I will give some serious thought to trading some of my remaining liquid HIVE Tokens for Plots. Will PLOTS ever see peak value again ($1000 USD)? I have no clue but I do believe that PLOTS will touch on $300-$500 USD range once everything land is fully functional (Not financial advice: Always do your own research before spending your hard earned currencies: Never invest more than you can afford to lose).
What Is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a blockchain game built on the Hive Network. The game itself utilizes NFT's for game play. These NFT's can be won in battle and/or purchased from the official Splinterlands marketplace or many other secondary markets. Game play rewards players with cryptocurrency and in game assets. Click here to get started with Splinterlands.
Something else I wanted to touch on is Splinterland Tournaments. I haven't played tournaments in sometime and my Rank Play has also been scarce (Too little time in a day to do it all). Out of curiosity just days ago I decided to see how much USD in prizes has been given out to the Splinterlands tournament community (in form of SPS/DEC and other prizes). As the screenshot above shows currently we are nearing a total of Seven Million USD that has been awarded to tournament players. I don't think this gets talked about enough. That is a decent chunk of cash to be handed out. Even more so astonishing is the fact that it cost us next to nothing to participate in such tournaments. Sure we need to own the appropriate card levels and have the appropriate amount of SPS staked but we don't lose any of either for participation (There is a small entry fee). Toss in the fact that our cards are collectables and tradable, playing tournaments becomes a profitable position. In Short: This Seven Million USD is on top of what our cards and other Splinterland assets are valued at (Amazing Stuff that needs to be mentioned more).

I'm not so sure we won't see a pretty big dip in land coming up as region holders are finally able to break them up and sell individual plots. At these prices, a region holder could sell 70 of their 1000 plots and have a zero risk investment. Plus, with the upfront cost of running land for a region holder being in the tens of thousands of dollars, unloading some plots early could help cushion the blow. I think many region holders will find their castles and keeps and unload some more common plots.
We'll see but this seems the same as a lock up period for whales ending just as minnows are getting all fomo-y. I'm waiting before I buy more.
That is an outcome I haven't thought about. Lets hope those who purchased such amounts aren't going to dump once given the chance to do so. I guess its a wait and see game. I'm still betting on this being near bottom price for plots before the eventual increase and then correction.

Yeah, I think we'll see a fall off. If you look at the market, between hive engine and the non card market there's less than 100 plots for sale right now and some of that is just bots trading. Im expecting several region holders to reveal plots until they find their castles and then dump a bunch. With all the changes to land and all the contention, there's no way at least a few of them haven't decided to take their profit and run as soon as they can. Plot owners have been able to do that already but it's much harder to sell a region than a plot.
I think we'll see common plots drop to $30-60 while legendaries might see $200-250. From there is will ebb and flow with the market and new proposals. Hopefully the general trend will be up though.

I always do a really poor job of keeping my powder dry because there is always a card that I have to have 🙄
I think its a great time to grab some land plots if you have the scratch 💰
One's wallet does tend to empty quicker than that dish of powder did :)

I also don't have any plot of land game on this person but I am also trying to buy it because the way it is updating now and the market is also supporting us, we will see in the coming days. The prices of cards and other things will also go up a lot.
I agree, I think we will see our assets USD value rise with the next bull market.

Did you thought to use a bot instead of spending time playing? Or you play like me for fun?
I put most my cards that would rent on market. Some others I have delegated out to players. However I do have an account I play for fun in the Bronze/Silver League.

I personally don't have plots in splinterlands and I want to see how they come out of this bear market before I start buying. The latest staff reduction has yet to be said.
