Checking in with ThorChain (RUNE), and things are LOOKING GOOD!

in LeoFinance2 years ago

I checked in with Thorswap a few days ago, home all things RUNE, and the protocol protocol has definitely evolved over the last year or so. All in all, it's looking solid!

Clear options on the homepage:

We're greeted with the following options:

  • swaps: you can now swap between SEVERAL CHAINS including BTC, LTC, ETH, BSC, and COSMOS.
  • Earn allows you to stake individual coins.
  • Deposit via pooling allows you to pool a range of assets with RUNE for very reasonable returns in this day and age.
  • Staking allows you to stake THOR for VTHOR and earn a percentage of the fees earned through the protocol....

All in all things work very smoothly!

Attractive returns in a range of pools

There are SEVERAL options offering APRs in the 15-20% range, even BTC is yielding at that rate!

5% for Bitcoin deposits

You can even earn 5-20% for just staking single asset coins. I'm not 100% sure what the risks (if any) or advantages to the protocol are, but it's an option....

Staking Thor

I had some spare THOR kicking around from a while back so I staked 1000 to get a 70% return, this gives me a portion of the fees.

I kind of wish I'd done this sooner!

My returns

The reason I was checking in with Thor recently is because I'd left a small amount of money in two pools and I wanted to see how they'd done: 94% up and 37.5% up respectively, compared to what I would have earned had I just let these assets sit.

You can see there's been quite a bit of asset value shift since I added.... AVA down compared to RUNE, and RUNE down compared to LTC.

That's why I only left a small amount in!

That is over more than two years now, but all in all, pretty sweet for a small hedge.

The Rune Price...

The price of RUNE has increased around 15% over the last year. Given the general DEFI carnage since the heyday of Summer 2021.

O.K. Yes it's down 90% since then like everything else, but basically RUNE has survived!

RUNE hasn't done that well over the last year compared to BITCOIN (below)

Screenshot (144).png

However compared to BITCOIN, over the last year RUNE has not fared so well: BTC is up 36% over the last year.

HOWEVER, if we look back from the recent lows in June, RUNE is up 100% compared to around 10% for BTC!

Rune today, final thoughts..

We now have a genuine native cross-chain DEFI protocol that functions and it's looking pretty appealing as a buy-more to me!

I'm thinking that now I'm near my BTC target (75% of what I want), I MIGHT pool the other 95% with RUNE!

Oh, and it'd be great to get a HIVE PAIRING WITH RUNE!

Beware of AVA pool. It is in BEP-2 chain, but in late August was a token swap to ERC-20. No one is swapping now on thorchain... sadly.

OK thanks for the heads up!

I havent checked my btc-rune lp in a year :) might have a look... last time I did I was down bad

Rune doubling sine July will probably help that!

In retrospect this has been a good lesson in when not to pool - for example I have 90% of my Dec waiting for land NOT pooled!

The APRs seem high, I wonder if it is reliable.

Fair question I'm gonna dig a little more!

I can't believe I'm losing this project in this time, crying so much.

I found 60 Rune in my BEP20 Wallet, but I can't get it out or trade it. Do you have any idea what is going on with the Rune BEP20 version? Thanks for your help.

I'm not 100% sure I converted all mine to native Rune ages ago, you might be able to still do it, you need a ThorChain address.
