Why rewarding your audience gets more important in the digital world
Recently, I have seen multiple seeds sprouts on Twitter mentioning new (or old) Social Media platforms that run on blockchain technology. I even see the #deso tag popping up. What? I'm not surprised that giant overlords of Web 2 (centralized) social media platforms like Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, and Mark Zuckerberg are trying to jump in on the movement, thinking that they're offering a ride to the promised land. Well, these trains are one-way rides straight back to the not-so-decentralized-lala-land, where centralization brands itself as decentralization simply because giants like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and so on can't afford their users to go rogue and roam free.

What could be the reason why most of us are looking for/and have built something else?
It's simple. We realize that our time is valuable, and has meaning to at least 1 person. And so is yours!

On Hive, all of my readers are rewarded, this could include you!

Hive is a decentralized textbook-based blockchain running on a DPoS protocol. Hive offers several interfaces where users can interact with the blockchain in the style they like. All sorts of content creators are welcome on Hive and there are quite a few users who have instantly used Hive to monetize their content. But this isn't the only remarkable property that Hive has to offer to all of its users globally.

One of the awesome things about Hive is that you can send micro-rewards to everyone who engages with your content. Rewarding readers on Hive is an incredible way to grow a successful and engaged audience. Readers are instantly incentivized to engage with your blog posts. Since getting rewarded is one of the incentives in exchange for readers' engagement, you can easily detect genuine and authentic readers who read your content. One of the reasons why I left Instagram and Facebook, was because of the generic "cool" comments after hours of hard work. On Hive, I feel that the same work is appreciated, and I can appreciate people who spend their time reading one of my blogs.

This is a game changer for global Social Media platforms. If you're thinking this is the same as "oh you can just farm rewards by placing comments", you'd be mistaken, the community is governed by itself, and content creators are feeling responsible enough to not reward comments that look like farming rewards. A lot of security is already built-in and doesn't only rely on technology, but human interaction as well. This is in my opinion, one of the things that make a blockchain successful and a fun experience.

Why rewarding your audience gets more important in the digital world

Rewarding an audience isn't a new thing. We have been rewarded as consumers since I can remember. Sometimes it just felt a little bit unfair. This shifted to almost no rewards at all in exchange for our time. On Hive, we all realize that everyone's time is equally valuable. This is the main reason why I am rewarding most of my readers (and sometimes give higher rewards if the comment is fully engaging with the topic/theme). The beauty of all of it is that the only cost I have is rechargeable resource credits.

For individuals, Hive can be quite rewarding, but for businesses, Hive is quite an interesting incentive to start using one of the social media platforms as an outlet for information and showcases.

  • Increased loyalty: By showing appreciation for your audience's engagement, you can build a more loyal following.
  • Meaningful engagement: By incentivizing your audience to engage with your content, you can encourage deeper and more meaningful interactions.
  • Showing appreciation: Rewarding your audience is a simple yet effective way to show your appreciation for their support and investment in your work.

A User-Friendly and Community-Driven Platform

I realize that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can sound rather complex, so users avoid using them as they don't understand them. But once you understand a few terms that explain how Hive works, you are going to love Hive. Hive is designed to be user-friendly and welcoming. Even for those who have very little experience with blockchain technology and/or cryptocurrency. Just try Hive out for at least a few months, and just explore, do whatever you already are doing on Socials, and learn a bit about the our community-driven platform. Most of us are always willing to help and answer questions from newcomers, there are even dedicated discord community servers for that.

Rewarding my readers is just one way to monetize content on Hive

Everyone who participates on Hive is automatically eligible (without being censored/shadowbanned/and so on) to receive author rewards, curation rewards (finding and liking content that you find awesome), and for holding the token itself. These three ways to monetize your content are the most common ones, but there's more to explore on Hive.

Rewards the audience in more ways than one.

Some members of the audience pay content creators in the form of tips or donations. Quite common to see, all over the internet. Often those platforms keep a percentage, ripping off both the content creator and consumer.

On Hive, audience members choosing to support content creators can do so with votes. Gaining access to votes with value behind them isn't hard. All one must do is powerup their account using money they were going to throw away in the form of tips or donations. From there the audience member can support the content creator at no cost, with votes, for as long as they want. The initial funds used to powerup the account always stays in the wallet. What this means is a consumer can now support a content creator free of charge, while the money intended to be spent on entertainment/information now has a chance to grow in value inside the consumer's wallet, making the act of supporting content a really good deal, rather than the ripoff content creators and consumers have had to put up with for decades.

So that's something to think about, I guess...

Oh yeah, absolutely. @Acidyo recently Tweeted about Gettyimages sueing AI.

I tried Gettyimages (awful company), iStockphoto and Shutterstock a long time ago. They take a lot more than just a "percentage", while the artist is doing most of the work. It's shameful, and most of "us artists" don't care, as hobby photographers are more than eager to add their photographs for pennies on the dollar.

Oh well, I love how Hive works. Even with very little to no stake, users could get rewarded if they participate in the network, which is absolutely mind-blowing if you think about it. It's a great time to be here on Hive!

Honestly, I'm still using other platforms as all my friends and family are using them too. You might say, well, ask them to join Hive, but I like to keep some sort of anonymity for as long as I can. I know that from time to time I post a photo of myself but chances that people who know me will find my posts are minimal at this point. This being said, I only use them to communicate but not to post, for this I use solely Hive 🙂

And now to your point.. for a long time I didn't reward comments as most of the ones that I received were purely farming attempts. The best one was when the person took the first few sentences of my post, changed the sequence of words and posted it as a comment 😂 I try not to react to such comments at all as I don't know if they really didn't read it or if they have limited knowledge of English and don't want to hurt anyone.

Recently, I started to reward comments again even though it is still a bit difficult to see if it's genuine or not but I enjoy spreading some love to people who take time and read my LONG posts 🙂 And I agree with you, rewarding comments brings loyalty and engagement as well. I see same people coming back more often which is a great reward for my work here.

I started using Twitter a lot more, but that's just to see if I can attract more people to Hive. It's a pretty good way to make people aware of Hive's existence. But I totally understand that, staying as long as possible "anonymous" (lol, the times I regret using my full name on chain... if it wasn't for my rep, I probably would've started all over).

I agree! The language barrier makes it a bit difficult to see if people were farming, or trying really hard to place a comment. I had some doubts with this comment :P (just kidding). What @karinxxl is saying in the comment section here, is also something to think about and consider (IMO), but in overall, I think most of us here share the same sentiment about rewarding those who spend time on our blogs.

Oh, I've been thinking the same so often. I was planning to do a food blog and it quickly changed to a travel blog, but I'm stuck with the name 😂 so many people know me here already and I don't want to start from the beginning now.

Well, I cannot say that I disagree but when I get a comment 'Hi brother' then I'm not sure if I should laugh my a** off or if I should be offended but I'm definitely not going to reward such comments, and surprisingly I'm getting them quite often, so it might be the right time to change my profile picture 😂

BTW, of course I'm only here for farming of the rewards! 😂 (kidding)

The rewards earned on this comment will go directly to the people( @rubencress ) sharing the post on Twitter as long as they are registered with @poshtoken. Sign up at https://hiveposh.com.

This is why I upvote everyone that takes the time to comment on my posts. Time is getting more and more valuable and I want to recognize those that actually check out my content.

Yeah man! Do you remember when it was quite new to reward your audience on Hive? It does make a lot of sense, doesn't it!

For me to comment the post has to do with something Im interested and also there has to be some effort into the content, that way not only the creator gets rewarded first with the engagement but probably with an upvote too, I upvote every post I comment, I think its a two way communication system, for someone like me that Im new to Hive its very different how ppl get along than other social networks where ppl go like for like or follow for follow and also just by engaging users get rewarded and grow their following, this is definitely something different than the rest, it will only take time to get more users involve, thx for sharing ✌️

That's nice indeed. An upvote isn't always required though, but that's totally up to the consumer, right? If you're new here on Hive, you probably have noticed that we are more motivated to actually read and engage with someone, right? I mean, on Instagram for example, I caught myself liking my entire feed in less than a few minutes. It has very little substance.

Hive really got me thinking in replying, commenting, which can be quite tricky sometimes. But ey, I like and appreciate your comments haha! So you are doing great already :)), feel free to share this article with friends who haven't heard about Hive yet that you want to bring along!

Im in the middle of creating some habits and Hive have got me back into reading, there is content that I like that is extensive and you just cant comment without reading, its almost impossible if you really want to contribute to the topic, the reason why I upvote and comment its because the content had some value for me either entertainment or educational, during a day I upvote lets say 10 good post of different topics and also end up reading about 7 to 10 pages its a win win for both sides author and curator

By rewarding others, we can built a community around us. Hive is the best place to rewards others in the form of votes and their comments and also on their posts if you have power.

Exactly! Not just in the form of votes, engagement is pretty scarce here on Hive as people are pretty busy with "other" things I guess, and most of the time, the blog posts are a lot longer than what we were used to on Facebook for example.

If this doesn't make people think and consider their own social behavior... they should at least be asking themselves "why" they're using Social Media in the first place, right?

It's a pity that a lot of people either still don't know about Hive, don't find their time thát valuable, or just stick to what they've known for years (Facebook e.g.) just out of habit.

Yeah people tend to stick to what they know, the fear of the unknown.
Also using Hive requires a bit more focus and understanding. Some people are turned off by that, but I think we should put time into our content.
Hope you are well beautiful xxx

Yes, I think that's 100% true.

You are so kind. I'm doing much better than last year, taking it step by step. I hope you are doing fine as well❤️

It is! It is the habit that can kill our curiosity. Just what @trucklife-family says, Hive requires more attention and focus-span. It does make me aware of consumption and how low-grade my digital behavior was before the existence of Hive platforms.

Couldnt agree more on this. Still a fanatic lurker on other forms of sociale media here but never use my time to write anything there because... why would you

But here same opinion as you. When someone takes the time to write anything a bit decent apart from 'cool dude' ..they will always get a vote from me even though it is only a tiny one. People sometimes do need some incentive to learn that it is worth it to take the time for a meaningful comment

(How wazig ze soms ook mogen zijn)

Aren't we all lurkers? Haha. I agree, I feel it is getting more and more a waste of time to put my time and effort on there. So what I do instead, is sometimes post a few pictures, and sometimes I include a link to Hive. Just to make some people curious :P

That's really nice and I couldn't agree more! I remember upvoting some trolls on my blog in the early days. Lol xD their time is also valuable, however, they could spend it differently haha.

I still do, because even trolls are making an effort haha. But just a small vote then but more in the thought of 'ive seen your comment'

Yeah smart one to link in the traditional sociale media to you hive blog but for some reason..i dont really tell a lot of people that i blog. Thats also weird right?

Or like... I upvoted it, so now you can't delete your nonsense anymore :P
Yeah, I've told people close to me about Hive, and none of them care. We just need more individual lambo success stories like APE to trigger ape brains. But that's not something that I want to bring over either, so in a way, we're good.

Yeah, its crazy how still so many people have yet to really explore Hive and understand it's potential. But you know what they say about the tortoise, it will always win in the end. Nice post Ruben, hope you are keeping well xxx

Yeah, I can't wait till Hive gets more credit for its power, would be nice to see. On the other hand, it's nice how it is right now, as we all know how much "effort" it took us to get used to it, so the place is basically packed with similar minded people.
