RE: AB Test: Which landing page should Hive use for its $100K marketing campaign? Reply A or B

in LeoFinance3 years ago

I appreciate you posting this @vikisecrets , I'll make one minor clarification in case I've confused people...

In my original post I wrote that this was a page for Hive.io -- this was a mistake, a typo, and not my intention. Hive.io is an architecture / protocol / ecosystem that consumers do not care about.

I was actually proposing this as marketing for Hive.Blog (as eventually pointed out by @starkerz ), because Hive.Blog is the public-facing, consumer-friendly social-platform aspect of Hive. Consumers definitely care about this. They are always hungry for a new social platform (TikTok, Clubhouse, whatever new thing.)

Just wanted to clarify this point, because I wrote incorrectly in my original post. 🙏

Much love to you and everyone sharing their thoughts here!

Sort:

respectfully, @vikisecrets, you are asking a small remaining group of ex-content consumers turned great bloggers whether or not hive blockchain should be marketed as a post and earn system. this question is not going to get a fair answer. in fact, it is not a fair question.

we need to be better at understanding who we are bringing to the landing page and cater for their interests in an automated way. we can do this by understanding where the user came from (where the link was embeded) and auto direct them to a landing page for either of the following:

  • content consumption (strictly not bloggers or potential content consumers who could become bloggers, this is not what will drive hive forwards in the future) - why do content consumers benefit from hive?
  • content creators - why do content creators with existing audiences benefit from hive and how do they bring their communities across to benefit from communities and tokens etc
  • gamers - why do gamers benefit from hive and why should they move
  • developers - why do gamers benefit from hive and why should they move
  • defi users
  • token users
    etc etc.

it is easy to identify where these users came from and then serve them landing pages that go straight to their interests.

asking a group of bloggers whether or not hive should be marketed as a blog and earn system will get you one answer and one answer only.

post and earn system.

To clarify, from a marketing/copy/brand-campaign perspective this is no where near what my article was proposing. The marketing message I drafted was much closer to:

"you know the swiping & liking you do for free on FB, YT, IG? ... Well, join Hive and do that for crypto."

Reading my post attentively would hopefully make this abundantly clear.

I’m sorry I just see post and earn. This type of ethos is basically saying take investors money and put it into ur own pocket. I just don’t support it. It brings in smalll content consumers and turns them into bloggers. At which point they don’t get rewarded and they leave. We need to delegate to dollar vigilante for integrating hive into his website so he can incentivise his content consumers for commenting, not tell his content consumers that they can post and earn from investors money. I know u don’t think that is what u are saying, but it literally is that that u are saying. I just don’t think u see it yet.

We all see what we want to see. ;)

U will find in ur comments that every long term reputed hiver on this thread more or less echoes and agrees with what I am saying

👍

Conflict and disagreement is how humans move themselves forward... but it’s also the open and candid willingness to communicate.

How about this... we all just make the attempt... then measure those results carefully. Because Hive is a tool that can approach all sorts of digital media and tokenize them on an immutable censorship resistant blockchain... that means than we need to take serious consideration that ALL types of users are needed and welcome on the platform.

Tailoring a multiple layered approach that reaches each sort of potential account is the way forward.

We just gotta plant the seed and let it grow. 🌱 If it’s a weed we deal with it when it becomes apparent. But if it’s a different sort of plant we nurture and nourish it.

Right now Hive has a problem... the ground is new and being broken, the communities are new and maturing, everything is growing but we need to get rid of all the rocky unfriendly ground if we want to have a thriving and healthy environment where people want to log in and stay long term.

That’s where our effort needs to go...

We can talk about what sort of seed to plant and how to plant it until we go blue in the face... but seriously! We ALL just gotta plant the damn seeds and be super friendly about it.

Got any thoughts?

A good example is the recent interview Adam curry did on max keiser where he talks about podcasting on lightening network. 1) we all know lightening network is inferior to hive and 2 we have pod ping. 3) Adam curry is in touch with the makers of pod ping but he still failed to mention hive on keisers show. Had hive been quicker at allocating mor serious resources behind pod ping on hive, we would have been on keiser report already

Thx for the clarification, I also realized that it is meant for the ad campaign, but I think the basic idea could also be brought to hive.blog or even hive.io, although hive.io could be targeted more towards devs. That's true.

I agree with you :) I guess we'll see, lol! Thanks again! 🙏
