Yes, I was surprised reading an article last night that says that Grandmaster level is only 0.2% of total players. I didn't expect that for I was a latecomer, just more than a week.

A lot of people took the PPH advice seriously so I think they are trading the level up for PPH
Plus, the game is built in such a way that late comers catch up no matter what.
