How does the For You tab work? Is there any need to engage on threads that appear on that tab? I always feel I missed them and focused on the latest threads. What do you think?
The for you rotates content based on your interactions, on content that has received good engagement, premium accounts, etc. The more you engage the more you train it so it delivers to your taste
So it's showing me contents I might be interested in based on my past interactions? Meaning that in the future, I wouldn't need to scroll too much of the latest feed instead just go through that tab?

Exactly. It is still young, so it will need time to be more accurate and have more content to show, but that is the goal.
