Saylor’s Dream
It has now become blatantly clear that Michael Saylor is aiming for a Bitcoin standard. A world run on and valued in Bitcoin, orange fuel, if you like. It’s not a bad idea. However, it would take time to achieve. The dollar remains the king and is used in nearly every country. That does not discount alternative currencies. I envision Bitcoin similarly, with additional altcoin economies falling under its banner.
Eventually, Bitcoin could become dominant. However, the opportunities to print value with altcoins and blockchain-based models are too big to ignore. Nobody is here for the tech! Behind every endeavor is an envisioned pot of gold. Projects continue to arise because individuals envision success and a large payday. While market participants are still able to enrich themselves, altcoins will prevail.
They might not perform well, but they will continue. The Lightning Network, a Layer2 solution, makes using Bitcoin a dream. It’s quick, easy, and inexpensive. Alternative economies can almost be seen as Layer2s. Transactions occur outside of the Bitcoin chain, but eventually are reconciled back to the native chain.
The First Step
This is how I envision Bitcoin’s initial stages as a global standard. Last time I checked, approximately 60% of forex transactions were settled in USD. Consider for a moment the size of the forex market. More than $7 trillion moves through the forex market in a single day. The dollar is dominant. However, there are 180 currencies in circulation. I expect Bitcoin to mirror the performance of the dollar.
The altcoin market could experience high transactional throughput. However, much could find its way back to Bitcoin and Bitcoin Layer2s. This is how I see this story unfolding. Ultimately, the Bitcoin dominance grows over time. Altcoins have always been the money spinners. However, this cycle has been a huge disappointment for altcoins. I also envision more Bitcoin Layer2 ideas coming to the forefront.
Bitcoin has already peaked at 750% from its bear market bottom. Chances are, it still goes higher. Only a handful of altcoins have secured similar gains. My best calls outrank Bitcoin. However, there are only a few of them. Bonk, Taraxa, and several micro-caps. It’s been tough going for altcoins, and much rides on the final quarter of 2025. Bitcoin is most certainly making its mark and planting its flag!
Final Thoughts
I think Saylor will continue to see his dream taking shape. However, it’s a journey, and a long one at that. This is not an overnight venture, or the job of an army of weekend warriors. This will take time and patience. Hopefully, altcoins explode in the final quarter. We all need it! See you next time!
