I hope to see a time when people don't have to file taxes. Paying them is one thing, but maybe we'll never get away from that. The process of having to file them is a huge pain and just gets worse with all the chasing of pennies that I do.

The money spent on tax preparation and time is insane. All to give politicians more power. Hopefully network states start eating into that a great deal.
Except 1862-1865, before 1913 people didn't have to pay an income tax. Taxes had been raised by fees and duties on goods. These days, a sales tax can get it done. The amount of sales tax will hurt, but it will be cheaper than taxes now.
