You know how you often take things for granted until they are gone? If you've ever been active on a different social media platform like X, you will understand this post better. Even if you haven't, I urge you to try doing it for two days. The kind of limitations you will get will make you value Hive more.
This weekend, I decided instead of my usual massive engagement on Snap, I would try to engage on X, and remind my friends I am still alive. Everything was going on fine. I started conversations, joined conversations, followed a few people and received follow backs.
It was very nice to see that I still have the gift of building a relationship with strangers online. Even though it's been a while. It was easy for me to use that gift on Hive because you all are very accommodating and I didn't need to feel shy, I jumped into the conversation and everything else felt lighter.
Outside of Hive, there's an emotion that takes control of you when it seems other people's accounts are doing better than yours. They have more likes, more comments, more followers, people are tagging them here and there. They are tagging others who respond promptly and you begin to wonder if you are a spoon.
Spoiler alert, you are not a spoon. You just haven't figured out a way to let go of the heavy emotions and fear that holds you back from jumping into that atmosphere without thinking about how terribly you are doing.
The rest of them figured out how to make it look easy even when most mornings they feel like an imposter. You probably allow your feeling of being an imposter toBold hold you back while they channel that energy into, "Let's see where this goes."
That aside, if you've ever seen the whole drama that happens outside of Hive, then, you decided to go with the flow and jump in, you will face the rude awakening that I constantly get when I am on a platform like X.
Imagine how much engagement we do every day on snap and we never get any restrictions. No one says, "you are doing too much, please take a break for 3 days." No one says, "you are reading and liking too many posts, just stop it already." No one tells you that you are commenting too much, "take a seat and slow down."
The only thing that slows you down would be your RC, which Hive has given us the mechanism to stake more Hive and improve our RC, or find favor in the eyes of someone and receive a delegation to keep you going.
Hive, unlike X, doesn't restrict you instead Hive allows you to use the resources that you have to keep moving forward as long as you have enough to sustain your engagement goals. If you decide, "I want to comment on as much posts, or snap, or threads, or waves as I want today," Hive says, go ahead, you are the owner of your fingers, do what you want as long as you are not spamming.
But X assumes you are spamming just because you are able to do too much in a little time.
This is why Hive will always have my heart no matter how many other social platforms I belong to. On Hive, I can be active without being punished for it.
I can show up as much as I want, engage for as long as I want, connect with as many people as I want without being restricted. I had to step out for a while to realize how good we have it here.
You can breathe easy on Hive because your activity is not only encouraged but it is rewarded. We are being rewarded to be the one thing X doesn't want us to be and that is being present, active and a part of everything going on here. We are encouraged to be creative, active, consistent and involved. It's a whole package that we sometimes overlook because we haven't had the chance to go out there and see the difference.
I guess sometimes we need to step out of Hive to be able see how good we have it and appreciate Hive more. Have you ever taken a break from Hive and tried using another platform? What did you notice when you got there?
The next time I go to X, I will take care to not break the riles of the platform. That way, X is happy, I am happy, and my followers do not have to wait for 3 days before they see me again.

Well, X doesn't have downvotes in the same way that we do here on Hive. Downvotes were supposed to serve a purpose, but they've been weaponized and they just give people with a God complex more power. And people here definitely have opinions about how often you should post, what images you can use, all sorts of things. I think both X and Hive offer some benefits that the other doesn't have.
Oh no, I forgot about down votes. You are right, both platforms have their individual benefits.
About people's opinions on how often we post, I was only comparing X to the different short form sub section of Hive. I should have pointed that out clearly on my post. Forgive me.
