American Pacific Mint Inc. moved to Azusa, California, after being founded in Nevada in September 1965. In September 1987, they paid an undisclosed sum to acquire the Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange. As an American Pacific Mint subsidiary, Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange kept up its operations. Following that subsidiary's exceptional performance and increase in earnings, American Pacific Mint announced plans in January 1992 to relocate its corporate headquarters to Dallas and rebrand the entire business as Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange.
One of the first coin and bullion dealers to conduct business online, they started off in 1995 with a website where they auctioned off jewelry from their stores. Two more websites were later added, one for watch auctions and the other for jewelry manufacturers and vendors to sell to each other and to the general public. They have launched a website with real-time precious metal price quotes. Their online revenue surpassed the revenue from their 1998 fiscal year five times over and started to rise dramatically in 1999.
1993 American Pacific Mint Peace Dollar Trade Round BU
These American Pacific Mint 1 oz..999 fine Silver Trade Units, which were produced in the early 1990s, are extremely collectible because they are hard to find and are no longer manufactured.
The obverse depicts a replica of the Peace Dolkar dollar with a left-facing Lady Liberty. Inscribed above the effigy is the word "Liberty" and the bottom is the date "1993".
On the reverse are scales are the main feature of the trade unit silver rounds. Above the scales, the words "ONE TROY OUNCE", with ivy sprigs on either side. The mint mark "APM" are located just below the scales, then purity of ".999 FINE SILVER". Then finally. words "SILVER TRADE UNIT" beneath the purity.
Silver rounds may occasionally tone as a result of natural oxidation, which has no negative impact on the silver's value.
Toning develops organically with time. It is mostly the result of sulfur and/or oxygen reacting with the metal of the coin. Heat, dampness, and other environmental factors can quicken the toning process. Would you believe that cheap coin folders and holders include some of the most dangerous substances for coinage?
The richest hues can be found in silver coins. Vibrant red to deep orange, brilliant blue to deep magenta, and a range of olive, green, and gold tones can all be found in colors. Brown and black tones are also possible for toning, which can also become unsightly. The coin's surface may become permanently damaged if the toning turns into corrosion in the most extreme circumstances. The coin's surface may become porous from corrosion, giving the impression that it has been sandblasted in the worst circumstances.

To make matters even worse, as a kid, putting coins in blue Whitman folders was tough to do, so everyone used a spoon, to press it, into the folder !😬😳🙄🤣

Those are some great pick-ups! Like you said, the materials in a lot of old coin albums actually accelerated the toning process, so you can find a lot of great toners that once were in coin albums.
Other people just toss their silver in a box every which way and (man)handle it, which is fine. But I always care for my things, especially my savings. So, I take time to put them in airtites! It's just how some of us handle our gold and silver.

Toning is very interesting in some instances and not desired at all in others. It can add character or it can dwindle the value of the coin.
