NVIDIA stock getting hammered makes no sense as NVIDIA chips power the new China AI.

People are ridiculous

Sort:

I think general sentiment is that they used inferior chips which means more efficient training which could mean less chip demand

last I saw. They actually used 30 NVIDIA servers.
Currently be investigated by US government as violating trade embargo’s.

The reality is more likely they acquired NVIDIA servers. This has been their MO for decades.

The chips arms race is in full swing and we arw are a few years behind thanks to Pelosi holding the Chips act hostage.

Amazing the scuttlebut without actual information.

that would make sense but NVIDIA is also building an AI for your desk. So much demand.
Traders are so fickle.
This is why I pulled out of the markets completely years ago.

Very rarely based on anything real. Rumors & FUD moving prices.

always just so traders can make some money

Here's something I just read about the subject:

DeepSeek's claim is that they developed this great language model for only $5.5 million and that they did not use high-tech chips such as the latest Nvidia chips, the H100s, while doing this, they achieved this with old generation Nvidia GPUs.

Why is that? Because, as you know, the US is imposing a technological embargo on China. That's why DeepSeekers found our own new solutions, made innovations and thanks to this, there is no need for Nvidia chips, AMD chips, Arm chips. At least that's how the market reads it, they don't actually say it and that's why there is a big sale

So basically NVIDIA is seen overvalued if true that their latest products aren't needed to create these LLMs.

Yeah, I mean, they are the biggest GPU manufacturer in the world, who do these idiots think is providing the infrastructure, lol.

Oh well, just means I'll hold my 100 shares a bit longer and keep selling covered calls, lol.

selling covered calls is always a good strategy

Yep. I just need to get some share of something to get released so I can start doing some poor man’s covered calls to try and maximize my account vs having so much into like 3 stocks…

Yeah plus, if they built Deep Seek with less computer wouldn't that mean that more computer can take ai even further?

The problem is that DeepSeek need only about 2,000 Nvidia chips, in contrast of the 16,000 chips or more that giant companies like Meta uses to power its A.I. Only about $6 million in raw computing power, 10 times less than what Meta spent.
