I've been borrowing you "when the internet knocks..." schpeel when I get a chance to rant at someone new, and today I talked to a car dealer and his son. The difference in their demeanors was uncanny.
The father treated the topic of crypto like the stock market, reflected on his rise and fall, and began writing it off almost immediately, while the son was very interested and genuinely inquisitive.
When I got to the part about long distance calling being free now he huffed, as if to say "I don't know what world you're living in", when I quickly pointed out I speak to people scattered all over the globe daily for no charge.
He got up and left me to deal with his son while he went to speak to an older customer.
It isn't just that people don't know. They don't want to. They only see BIG CHANGE and how it will make things harder for them... and I agree with them. Those who aren't willing to get it together and take responsibility for their future are going to end up at the mercy of those who do. So they just close their eyes and wait for Nanny or Big Bro to tell them where to stand and wait their turn.
They are the ones who are going to get run over and very quickly.
There is so much happening in a short period of time (5-7 years) that it is baffling. We are only about 18 into the COVID lockdown situation and look at how much changed in just that time.
Where do you think things will be in 3 or 4 years?

My imagination is running wild and having a hard time trying to keep up.
After seeing the video I shared regarding 4d printing, I think within 4 years there will be lab animals with dental implants that "grow" new teeth. I think within a decade they'll be competitive with natural, and I wouldn't be surprised if one day before my time here is up we see people removing natural healthy teeth to get something more fashionable.
I think we'll begin to see organic technology surface in practical use cases, but yet too costly for the masses.
Nano tech will likely be a household term.
It'll probably be as cheap to print an apartment building for the current cost to build a nice house for a family of 5.
Recreational space travel will be a booming market and a vacation destination for upper middle class...
I feel like some of this is probably 10 years off but none the less... big things are coming.
I am not sure you see that within the time frame you mentioned.
Keep in mind, we tend to overestimate technology in the short term and underestimate it in the long term.
There are going to be a lot of changes. The quickest changes happen, from a societal standpoint, when convergence occurs. So watch a couple different technologies coming together and that is your explosion zone.

Lol... good point. I do tend to get over-excited, although, I'm not so sure about the dental implants in lab animals... that looked really close to deployment in that in it already had a familiar feel to it, like I've seen it a dozen times and this is just a new application.
I realize there's more to it, but I'm not immune to being blinded by my own enthusiasm... yet.
