Horror movies getting destroyed by censorship is nothing new but this article breaks down some really good ones that got butchered and it pisses me off every time I think about it, you got directors with actual vision trying to make something disturbing and meaningful and then studios or rating boards come in and chop it up until it loses all its impact, the whole point of horror is to push boundaries and make you uncomfortable so when you censor the hell out of it you are basically killing what made it special in the first place, some of these cuts turn great movies into mediocre boring crap that nobody remembers. What you're failing to mention is the fact that they can make what they want, they just won't get the rating they need to make it commercially viable. It's economics. R-rating can make money. NC-17 won't.

True 💯, ratings definitely control what can be shown commercially.
