Christopher Nolan praised Dwayne Johnson's performance in The Smashing Machine calling it something special, this is Dwayne's big dramatic role where he plays MMA fighter Mark Kerr and Nolan does not give compliments lightly so this means something, the movie is Johnson's attempt to show he can do serious acting beyond action blockbusters and franchise stuff, if Nolan is impressed then we might actually see The Rock get some awards consideration which would be a huge shift for his career, the movie does not have a release date yet but expectations just went way up.
