While we might have a great degree of trust in certain people we've come to know over a specific period of time, the inclusion of money into the picture tends to bring a twisted twist.
Not all but a good number of people seem to switch personalities in matters pertaining to money. Call it temptation or perhaps, a display of one's true colours.

I still remember few years back when a teacher in my school submitted his resignation letter to be effected two weeks after. I and many others felt it was just a rumour until the day he walked in for a lesson and concluded the class with news of his intended departure.
We all got teary given how much of an impact he had made on each of us and chose to do something heartwarming for him. We decided to contribute five thousand naira/ $3.44 each to be placed in an envelope and handed to him on the day he was due to leave.
Given that we were twelve in number, the contribution would amount to sixty thousand naira/ $41.34.
Of course someone had to take accounts and keep record of it all and a certain girl was given the responsibility since she was supposedly transparent.
On the day of his departure, the teacher walked into my class thanking us all profusely for our heartwarming thought and act. In his words,
Y'all may think fourty thousand naira/ $27.56 is a small amount but I know just how much it will help my family and I in this current time.
Of all he said, the only words we heard was the amount he mentioned.... Like huh???
We were smart enough to keep our cool until he walked out. All heads turned and all eyes rolled to where our trustworthy girly was seated, looking anything but concerned. We all demanded for an explanation as we pryed the words out of her mouth.

The atmosphere boomeranged from cheerful to absolute fury with everyone ranting nonstop at the same time. Like seriously.... This was someone we were all so confident in, only for her to slip out such a significant amount for herself.
While I was trying to convince myself that she was only tempted and unfortunately gave in to the temptation, her bold justification for her act with no remorse whatsoever made me rethink.
Despite the fact that she stole from us all and betrayed our trust, she didn't see any wrong in what she did and that was when I came to the conclusion that it wasn't a temptation.
She simply displayed a side of her that we never got to see. Until the devastating opportunity presented itself.
It also made me realise how much we often think we know someone but time and events tell otherwise which is why I've come to place a distinct boundary between my personal relationships and financial concerns.
While we're all permitted to maintain healthy relationships with others, believing that they can be completely trusted with financial affairs might end up becoming the mistake of the year.
Money has been tagged to be the solution to lots of problems and also, the root of atrocities. It has always been a tempting element but overcoming the temptation is just as possible as feasible. It all boils down to one's discipline, morals and core values.
Anything asides from these simply makes room for dishonesty, greedy and compromise in a negative sense. And there's no excuse worthy enough to compromise one's integrity, lose one's dignity and hurt others.

When it comes to money, some people give in to temptation and for some, they are so desperate but for others, they do it intentionally, just like the case of the girl and even she didn't feel remorseful about it. That was not a good one because she broke your trust in her.
Eggxactly... That was the devastating part of it all. Not even an atom of remorse for her betrayal 😔.
Thanks for popping in 🧡.
