A purse/wallet has multiple pockets or space to keep different article, be it coin, or cards or paper. Infact some people keep so many stuffs that their pocket looks to be bumped bag.

In India, many people have their own way of carrying money in Purse/ wallet. They have their superstition of do & donts of carrying money. While some people keep picture of goddess, or some like to keep new currency. If we go to drill down we may end up 'n' number of beliefs from every individual. Few also have strong faith on astrological viewpoint of keeping money in their purse/wallet. I just had noted few of the aspects of how Indian looks into keeping in their money in wallet/purse which may never get the carry bag run out of money.

  • Not carrying any picture of Jupiter or gods. (Very strange thing considering have so much faith on God and goddesses)
  • Keeping a family photo. (Family is always important a omen to have good vibes all the time)
  • PlaCing Swastika or Om be it a picture or symbol but not turned.
  • Keep all the currency properly. Don't keep money by folding or tipping it. Money will not be wasted if you keep it properly.
  • Keep a square piece of gold or brass. Worship them every Thursday by washing them with Ganga water. This will help keep money in your purse permanently.
  • Don't keep too much paper in the lurse/wallet. Too much paper is a constant waste of money.
  • Keep your zodiac sign related items in your purse. It can keep be anything of color related to your zodiac sign, or any symbol or sign.

Every human is running after many. They are crazy about it and keep trying to accumulate more and more. Even after following so many things, Some people complain that there Money doesn't stays with them, and it get spent more and more. Or the income is getting reduced. If this is common problem and happening with many, then people do have some measures that may help in retaining the purse full of money....

Keep a Gomti Chakras in the purse. (Gomti Chakra is the operculum of a kind of rare sea snail in the family Turbinidae.)

Keeping a piece of small coconut, never make us short of money

Keeping a oval white stone in your purse, never allow us to fell short of money. It also help in generating positive vibes and keeping us happy.

In case you are extravagant, and you are spending money than your purse than keep a "Peepal Leaf".

What I found most interesting about Indians and their way with money,
and I don´t know if this rule is still in effect, but at least it was in the nineties,
was this: a rupee bill could have a really big hole in the middle,
and I guess those holes came into existence by the habit of stapling them notes together at the bank,
and nobody cared, everybody would accept such a damaged bill,
but if there was the tiniest tear starting from the edge of a bill, nobody would accept it,
at least with high value notes, starting from fifties and hundreds,
and let´s not forget in those good old days,
when there was no McDonalds and no Coca Cola in India,
you could get a chai for one rupiah, so a hundred rupee bill had some value.
So the game then was to pass on those bills to some ignorant tourist. 😉

Hahah....hope the chai was not sour in taste 😐

Those hole at the ecntre was acceptable all due to the fact it was stapled at the banks...not now, as no stapling or scribbling allowed on Indian currency...if you look closely, there were wired silver liking in every Indian currency, which many people thinks that torn part from edges would spoil the currency so they don't accept it....but not now much....things have changed so does India...and the perception around the world.....earlier world use to say 'why India?'...now the view is 'why not India' :)

Very interesting article. My money is always a mess in my purse, I guess it 's a low priority for me.
The most important item in my bag is my mother's rosary beads. They give me comfort everyday. She's gone almost 20 years now, but her love and inspiration are always with me.
Have a blessed day.
