There are projects in the UK to let road verges grow instead of just mowing them all. It provides a good sanctuary for wildlife. We leave some areas in our garden fairly wild for the same reason.
We do need a thriving ecosystem on Hive too and that's what I was getting at with my last post. There needs to be posts and communities that people enjoy and not just a concentration on maximum profit. The developers give us the framework, but it is down to us users to make it welcoming to newbies. When people do sign up we need to help them out. We should also be leaving on comments on posts. That can count for a lot even if your vote is small.

I have been seeing lots of introduction posts through the listnerds channel.
Have been visiting some accounts and giving them some follows.
I think it is great that we all help grow new accounts, but sometimes I feel like simply going out and supporting all of us who are "still here."
I think for most people they need to make Hive fun as they may not make much or be able to give big votes. I like getting decent comments and not just people fishing for votes. Being sincere is the best policy.
I really like how Leo has put a strong focus on engagement. There are some larger accounts over here that pretty much only vote on comments. If not exclusively, they put a large portion of their manual curation into comment voting, not post voting.

I vote up comments on my own posts to encourage it. Just have to watch for those just fishing for votes. Had one today who was copying comments by others and editing them a bit. I noticed as they quoted my own words back at me! I checked their posts and some was total plagiarism. They have been warned.
That sucks!
I upvote people who comment on my posts too, that was my first HIVE goal, to have enough upvote power so my upvote wouldn't be "dust."
That is too bad. I always kind of hate when a comment just regurgitates what my original post was. If you are asking a question cool, but if you are just trying to make it look less spammy... lame.
