Hello Saturday-Savers and everyone else who is interested in finance and crypto!
Today I want to write about something we don't want to see in our portfolios.
An investment that fails completely. The theory we had about it, about the future prospects, crumbling to pieces.
DHEDGE is such a "bad decision" of mine, because the project will no longer be taken forward. The token prices rushing down south...
Obviously it does not spark joy in me, but it is not THAT much of drama.
Why? Diversification!
I put my money to work in a lot of different cryptos and projects here on hive.
Always doing my due diligence of course, but there could always be some spoiled goods in the basket.
And that does not matter, when other assets perform well...
If you otherwise bet everything on just one horse...and it fails...well...that's way worse.
Happy to see that my strategy seems to work and that this happening does not impact my portfolio in a big way.

But you told an important lesson here!
Diversivication is always important. The Danger of an total loss is everywhere. Scamers can be found behind every corner.
In my opinion, diversification also has an end. You have to make a decision, not achieving much in many areas reduces the risk, but you lose a lot of chances to win!
That's why I also need to tidy up my HIVE account a bit 🤣

Do you think there is an ideal number of investments to have in a portfolio?
I was always taught five and maybe one or two wild cards or "promising".
I like to diversify to more than 7 assets, but with about 5 of them as the core ( where the most of the money goes) and the rest as satellites

That sounds like a good plan.
I agree - diversification provides the needed protection - especially in the crypto-sphere. There have been quite a few good Hive projects hitting the wall in these last few months. Its a real shame to see, but many just rely on one person to run them, and when the person has other focuses, gets board, has problems, etc it can often mean that the project goes south.
I had some funds in DHEDGE, but nothing to worry about (just a small amount).
A project I really liked a few years ago was UTOPIS. It seemed really good - maybe too good to be true (because it was). Luckily I didnt have that much in it - but that was the first Hive project that I saw go under and thats where I started to learn my lesson.

yeah totally, I read about UTOPIS and wanted to buy some tokens just to find out the project is kinda dead (the token price did not hit zero at least !LOLZ )
