This is unimaginable to some people but it is a likely outcome, perhaps by the end of the decade.
Consider all the video that we consume on a daily basis. Whether it is on cable or broadcast television, YouTube, or other social media platforms, the vast majority is human generated. We see major YouTube influencers excelling. People like Joe Rogan made a career out of the podcast.
Then we have the traditional media personalities. People like Bill O'Reilly, Piers Morgan, and Bill Maher were once on traditional channels. Now, they have their own media enterprises online.
The question is how much do we need these people? Or, maybe a better way of looking at it, will they be around in the future?
AI is advancing ahead. Many speculate that most knowledge work will be replaced by this technology. But what about our influencers? Do we maintain the media star like we have now?
Of course, that has evolved over time. I guess we have to wonder what is the next leg of the transformation.
The Future: A World Of AI Content Creators
What do content creators really provide? This is a tough question to answer so it does take a bit of digging into.
To start, anyone who simply provides information is apt to be replaced. AI already showed it can do this. Over the next 12 months, it is likely this capabilities explodes as AI agents start to take hold. Once this happens, agents will become the search mechanism.
Therefore, we will not be turning to a human generated video for information. The transmission could be via video instead of text but this will be created by the AI.
Next we have insight or analysis. Here is where things get a bit murkier.
Will AI have the capability to "reason" in such a manner? The question here comes back to the idea of creativity. What are the conclusions analysts are truly making? Are they really novel? Could it be replicated by a machine?
This is less clear than the information purveyors. My guess is we do see a time where the reasoning capabilities are such that AI models can draw conclusions. After all, isn't that really nothing more than pattern recognition. Certainly, it is more in depth as compared to looking at lung scans. Nevertheless, the creativity process is really taking known information and reassembling it in a different manner while noticing patterns that emerge.
Machines could ultimately do this. It might be a few years before we see this level of advancement, something we could gain some insight with the next generation models.
Platform Domination
We are already seeing the shift.
The next 5 years will see enhanced platform domination. That means the basic tenet of Internet success, the network effect, will come into play.
Platforms care only about the views. They are still running advertising models. Hence, we see the producer of content not even appearing on the radar.
For the moment the platforms share revenue with content creators. However, around the corner is the fact that more consumption will be for platform generated videos.
I believe YouTube demonetizes Ai videos. This means the payout for the ads on that video belong to Google.
What happens when Google, through its agents, spins up its own AI videos? There is nothing that says this cannot be done by the company. In fact, it makes total sense.
Google has a couple billion monthly active users. People are not going to stop watching videos. If the platform turns to more AI generated content, the company could simply compete with the individual creators by producing loads of videos itself.
This will, of course, generate even greater network effects since we are dealing with more eyeballs glued to that platform.
Right now, this might seem a bit far-fetched. That said, as we move towards this era, things will become "normal". Humans tend to be slow to adjust but they do eventually do it.
Will the same occur with AI generated content? The next couple years will reveal the answer.

The sooner society understands this, the more peaceful coexistence will be.
I saw an account that generates incredibly realistic images. I didn't realize it was AI until I read the description.
I agree that AI is a tool, but I don't feel like it's replacing us, unless its use is fully approved and everything goes haywire.
