We are watching legalized theft taking place.
The United States Congress is voting on a bill to force the sale of TikTok because it is a Chinese company. Here is where we see the usual "national security" label tossed around.
Since the Patriot Act, when you hear national security, get ready to lose some freedoms.
How do you know something is up?
In the House of Representatives, the bill passed with 90% support. When do 90% of Congress agree on anything? You couldn't get that result when talking about the weather.
Yet, here we see the force sale of TikTok resoundingly approved.
Of course, we are expected to believe members of Congress are supposedly concerned about the threat China poses?
How come they didn't do anything about the Chinese buying US farmland? That could pose a threat? There was nothing done when a member was found having an affair with a Chinese spy. What about the Uyghur humanitarian crisis in China? No action taken. Does anyone in Congress speak out about the NBA and its ties to China?
This is about a lot more than national security. It is about free speech.
The TikTok Situation Shows The Need For What Hive Is Creating
TikTok is a platform that does not censor content, at least not to the degree of the other social media platforms. We are now aware of the ties that meta and Google have to the government, notably the CIA. Then we have the Twitter files which shows a direct line between Washington and that platform.
The situation deepens as we see perspective Republican buyers lining up.
Steve Mnuchin, a Goldman Sachs alumni, is now attempting to launch a fund to purchase TikTok. He is recruiting people such as from Michael Milken to Yossi Cohen.
It is become clear: anything that allows anti-establishment conversation needs to be taken down.
Simply put, those in power cannot allow these conversations to take place. They will make up all kinds of terms, names, titles, and phrases to make it sound appealing. In the end, it is so they can proceed unabated without the population objecting.
The notion is that either an entity is complying with the establishment or it needs to be taken over by those who will.
Here is where Hive can step in.
We know most of the world does not care about censorship resistance. At the base level, this is something that Hive provides for any text. It is becoming increasingly important as the activities of the establishment ratchet up.
There is also the development of a new protocol by the SpkNetwork that will extend this same concept to other forms of media. Here again, we see a great need being filled. As we noted, many believe this is coming from Rumble, yet it is nothing more than another centralized platformed owned by a company.
This means that, at some point, this could be the target of the establishment. Since there is a door to knock on, the government, if it desires, will do just that.
Anytime Goldman Sachs, Google, and Meta support something, you can bet it is not for the benefit of the population.
This is the situation with TikTok.
Can Hive Withstand The Attack?
The ultimate question is whether something can stand up to the fierce attacks that will come.
As we can see, governments are not above passing legislation to legalize theft. This is something it regularly does. Now, with the national security idea, it can simply proclaim something as a threat.
Whatever the platform, can it hold up to the scrutiny when it comes? This is a question for the Hive ecosystem.
We will have to see how this turns out but there are a few factors working in its favor.
Hive is Web 3.0. This might not mean much to the average person but it is huge. The fact the database is permissionless while also being housed on computers all over the world is a game changer. All Web 2.0 platforms have an issue because they operate under the client-server architecture. This means they control the data (as most of us are well aware).
With Hive, nobody is in control of the text. Anyone can write to it and the database is replicated by all servers running the software. These are not geography based and the network operates as long as one server is online.
It is also open source meaning anyone can add to it. If the situation got bad, a few hundred pro-free speech advocates could simply open up servers.
The front ends are vulnerable. They could be blocked. However, here we are dealing with a game of whack-a-mole. If one is taken down, 2 more could open up. It is reading all the same data.
Naturally, we are dealing with text only so far.
SpkNetwork seeks to decentralize cloud so that other media forms will be offered the same protection. When this goes live, it could provide another avenue of defense against the establishment.
There When Needed
Hive, at this point, could be viewed as a fall back. There will come a point in time when it is needed.
This is something that many of us, especially in the developed world overlook. It is why so many misunderstand the US Dollar.
There are roughly $2.3 trillion dollar banknotes in circulation. Almost 3/4 of them reside outside the United States. The dollar is thetool that many people around the world use as defense against their own governments destroying the local currency (and economy).
In other words, it is the choice over the Venezuelan bolivar or Turkish lira.
Hive serves a similar role.
As we head into World War 3, which the west (especially the United States) appears intent on creating, this is going to become more important. Most are not trusting the mainstream news entities as they are nothing more than government propaganda, at least on the major issues.
It is a game based upon control. TikTok is not part of the circle of compliance, thus must be addressed. Like most things political these days, the situation is likely not as it is being presented.
This is why something like Hive is necessary. Web 3.0 is a game changer and a bigger threat to the establishment then it realizes. The focus is upon cryptocurrency but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Open source can spread like wildfire when needed. Having the software available is crucial. This is why building libraries now is so important.

We don't need platforms like TikTok when we have the blockchain to help protect people's speech. Centralized platforms maybe can consolidate money to fund tech advances but the basics for free speech are immutability and accessibility.

I heard the creator program offered by tiktok in the USA requirement is 10k followers and 100k views in last 3 months, and if somehow you get your TikTok account monetised then the RPM currently is above 3 dollars which is more than what YouTube pays per 1,000 views. TikTok has provided a better opportunity to earn money via there platform in the USA than youtube has done but Still I think the writing is on the wall and TikTok will be removed from the geographical location of USA somehow.
US residents will need a VPN in order to access the Internet in the future. China and US seem like they will change places soon.
There's a little more nuance to this though. TikTok's creator fund is a finite amount... so the more accounts that join that fund, the more diluted it gets... so creators are getting less today than they were getting 6 months ago and will get less in 6 months from now (if new accounts keep joining the creator program) whereas YouTube pays a percentage of the advertising revenue it makes per video, regardless of what its paying to other creators.

I'm not a fan of Tiktok, but this move by the US congress leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I can understand if they will require stricter compliance for Tiktok, but actually forcing them to sell/buy is a bit outrageous. This can set a precedent and they can possibly do this to other companies that they want to control. Hive and Web3 is more resilient against this, so hopefully more apps join us as protest against this.

Honestly tiktok yes that thousands times hive is better. Where Hive plays an important role in censorship and the web. But I am against TikTok. Because we have a lot of boys and girls here who tick like they are mentally unstable.

Quite something magnificent that hive is building and this is just the beginning trust me. This is the beginning and many more standards are about to be set
But all haven't said doesn't change the fact that hive can still stand a better chance than tiktok of we all know how to handle it
