A $16K Humanoid Bot: The Industry

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

We are still very early in the robot race. Many want to claim a winner (clickbait behind most of it) yet we have to realize how big and variable this is.

In this video I discuss how a high end supercar is not built for $25K. There are different segments of the market companies target. Robots will be no different. Some will have less functionality while carrying a cheaper price. Still others will be very specific in their use cases.

I agree. No one buys the latest model of a smartphone just for the calculator. But funny enough, there are those that will just for clout. These new robots will have limited functionality; some I saw will just be used for greeting, answering questions, and guiding people to the right direction. The initial robot race are fought by those chasing clout. Being able to say that they are the first, or have most sold, etc. The big companies though are aiming higher towards solving problems for other big companies.

We saw that for year. Industrial robots tend to be limited, such as lifting the frame on a car and moving it.

Even though limited, it was extremely useful.

Yep, I agree. If it is just lifting and moving, humanoid robots are not that necessary. I think they are replacing the other jobs that require human intervention. Things like assembly of small and complex parts, and checking the quality.

I think the general ones will be providing versatility. As the software is trained, robots can be moved around since they physically can do a lot more.

Others will be more focused.
