Would be awesome to see some kind of incentive for those pulling in the most traffic aside from just the post rewards.
There is no way to do that since we have no idea who pull in the traffic. You might right the article yet someone else might place it somewhere which gets a lot of attention.
Who gets the credit then?
Also ranking is a building process. What happens if I cite your article 40 times over 6 months in different articles along with Tweeting it out 5 times? Suddenly it is more valuable yet you just wrote the original post.

I see your point, but I am definitely with @l337m45732 on this. I have mentioned this a few times these recent days.
I don't have any answers for how to do it, but I am sure a system like that would encourage people to produce more optimized content, as they would be rewarded "over time" for the efforts they put in once while creating the content.
That would naturally lead to more traffic, more Ad Revenue and growth as well. So it would be a win/win situation for everyone involved, on many different levels at the same time.

That is all true but now you are putting a premium on optimizing content over the marketing/spreading around of said content. In other words that would encourage people only to share their own stuff.
Maybe it is the way to go. But as we discussed, both aspects have to be pursued.
Look at the twitter feed posts. Those are valuable clicks coming through.

Like I said, I don't know how to do it properly. I'm just saying that I think it would do wonders.
You obviously have good points, but I wouldn't focus on sharing my own content, because I would still earn due to the Ad Revenue at the end of the day.
How about some sort of on-going contests?
It would be fairly easy to track, as long as you knew the users who were participating. You could track the progress with a monthly post or whatever, revealing numbers and stuff to hype things up a bit.
Hmm.. I actually kind of liked that idea, so I might have to do something with it. lol

I love that idea. Maybe @khaleelkazi can help come up with something?

Who knows, I think he's busy with other things and I don't blame him for it. But, I think it would a pretty cool thing, so I think it's worth thinking more about.

We just have to keep talking about it ;)

I see what you're saying! That's why I said I dunno how or if it would work.
Clearly the article was good if anyone cites it multiple times, so I think the original creator should still get some kind of ad revenue boost or something.

Good and optimized, as I am learning, are two different things. I wrote a lot of good articles over the years (if I do say so myself) but obviously they were optimized for crap judging by the results.
Now I am changing that, or at least working on it. Hopefully it will pull in more traffic.
Whether I send them out or someone else does, makes no difference. I keep sending out others articles on Twitter too.
It all adds up.
