This is not going to make Bill Gates happy since he is a strong supporter (and dumped a lot of money) into nuclear.

nuclear is super expensive and people are really scared of the accidents even if they are rare. John Oliver did a show a few years back showing how expensive nuclear waste is long term. Not a nice gift for future generations to be honest.

it is a lengthy article about how regulations have mitigated the growth of the radiation industry. he also mentioned how nuclear power could curb the world energy crisis. now I know little about his sphere but if the assertions are true then the government and the various regulatory bodies are stiffening the growth of the industry which can solve an important problem in our world today.

Well, the truth is that he will not be happy at all, although I don't think it will affect him too much haha. Personally I didn't know that nuclear energy was so expensive, or at least the construction of the plants.
PS: I never imagined that the US consumes more energy than all of Europe and Asia combined. Now I understand why electricity service in the USA is so expensive.

Yea, it's not cheap... Lots of security issues that must be addressed and so on...

I am supportive on nuclear energy. The standards from the past are no longer applicable since technology has improved.

Yeah just dont build a nuclear plant on a fault line.
Concrete and the ground shaking to not go well together.

Well it does require access to a ton of water. We don't want another Japan where a hurricane or flood caused an accident. They need to be placed in good places and also have all the supply lines created.

My dad had a great solution.
He said that we should build nuke plants on all the old air force bases that are now abandoned and we cant do anything with since they are toxic wastelands after dumping fuels and all kinds of stuff for 50 or 60 years that they were open.
Simply cement over it and put a nuke plant.

Lol. I don't know enough about the topic to say anything but if it works then it works.

I don't really know the conditions of the terrain but that could actually work!
It would be a better destination for the abandoned land

Your dad is a very smart man. Great idea.

Indeed it will not be anything good for Bill, to increase marketing and promote his idea I remember seeing a documentary where he claimed that nuclear energy was very friendly and safe to the point that one of his daughters would live about 3km from one of these companies that he finances!
