The thing you are seeing in the picture is not a vacuum cleaner or a water purifier. It's a machine steward used in hotels in china. It delivers food and other things to lodgers right in their rooms.
I presume the food is inside and the guest simply open it up?
It went right to door of the road designated and speaks to the person in the room to open, as soon as the respond, it opens it cabin for the person to remove the food. After that, it went back where it came from all by itself.
Amazing what is happening. Think about where this stuff will be in 3 years.
No doubt, technology will take over many things in the next few years.
Yes. There is nothing that technology will not touch especially as we move towards the spatial web.
They are coming to a store near you. LOL
It will be so nice to have that in a store near me. Anyone that can afford such in a store would win more customers and sales. People like to see new things.
They do but they also resist change. It is the dilemma with technology.
but at the same time. I think I would struggle to live without technology nowadays
It is impossible to live without technology, nor would you want to.
I can guarantee you that you would not want to experience dentistry from the 1800s or knee surgery from 1970.
yeah some of those medical devices from the past are whack
I really like the theme for a daily threadcast. @taskmaster4450le nailed it.
Yesterday I couldn't check it out, it was a rush for me.
Yes it is a good one. I think people need to get involved to a greater degree.
Nothing more important right now than #technology in my opinion. It is taking over.
Technology is definitely being the focus and as I said before, you were right in bringing this topic to Leo.
I hope it takes off. I want at least 150 comments today. Did 130 yesterday.
If I'm not mistaken, we've already surpassed 150 comments. Let's go in search of 200
Ukraine war has shown us a taste of the future of war.
But what is the next big tech that will enter the battlefield?
Robots?
I dont think robots are going to have much use. We could see limited applications. I think drones and lasers are the future of warfare.
Drones is already very much present in the war machine :)
Yep. And they will only get more sophisticated.
Terrifying, closer to skynet everyday.
Not really. Who is skynet? Is it Meta? Google? Baidu? Elon?
There are a lot of people involved, going many different directions.
Think we have different view of what skynet means. I was refering to a system that can run autonomous from humans. Drones are that far of from not needing a operator.
One thing that caught my interest recently is vertical farming. One interesting stuff is that they are not used solely for food production. Some companies are using them to produce plant-based medicine as well.
They must be 100% isolated and monitored all the time to ensure that no diseases or anything like that get in the silos where plants grow so there is quite a lot of investment in technologies to monitor and assess that kind of risk
That was something that got a lot of publicity but hasnt seemed to gain traction.
I dont know if the technology is not there yet or what. I think a major company in the US that was into that went bankrupt.
Could be conflicts of interest with traditional farming, I dunno... I think it's picking up nicely in some countries in Asia
That might be. 60% of the global population is in Asia so they have a lot of mouths to feed.
They also can be packed in with land at a premium in many areas. So it makes sense.
@supiconvees-md is into technology

Here in Brazil, there is a documentary where AI was used to dub some people. No human voice actor was called for this job...
What do you think about it? Would you watch films, series and documentaries made by AI?
Yep. #ai is going to take over entertainment. I wrote a number of articles on it. People do not believe it, opting to remain in denial.
I also wrote an article about this. Indeed, many people will be taken by surprise when things actually happen and they will not be prepared to accept the new reality.
In two years, AI music and video will be good enough for most purposes.
We are going to AI movie stars.
I don't think even the strikes of these Hollywood people will yield any positive results for the artists. It really is a path of no return.
Creating a song or a movie script will be much, much easier and simpler with AI.
That is true. When we get text to video and image to video going strong it will be game over. Not only is there Sora but the Chinese are also working on their own versions.
What is amazing is we will be able to make that ourselves.
Yes, this is amazing and even scary at the same time.
I will be able to be a writer and I will be able to work on a book that I always thought about doing hahaha...
Of course, this takes time, as we know, because an AI being able to completely replace a professional voice actor will not happen for now.
However, we know how quickly artificial intelligence is always evolving and I won't be scared when that actually happens. I think they can coexist together with the voice actors.
You don't necessarily need to replace it completely.
Well It is something to plan for.
Labor capital is going away, that much is certain. Have to have something to fall back upon. That is where I believe Web3 enters.
Web 3.0 will be very important in this process.
I love technology but from a user point of view. I dont get too bothered in knowing the details and how everything come to life eheheh
I am not a technical guy. I can barely explain a bit from a byte.
However, I do look at the trends and how things are unfolding in the future. That is what I think the value is.
yeah I guess is good to be a little bit aware of it. that's for sure :D
Yeah. It helps to understand A) where things could be going and B) the interconnectedness of it all.
In your opinion, AI will not be able to replace a human with your profession?
Or do you think that in 10, 20 or 30 years, machines will do everything for us?
Not everything but most things. Right now you are dealing with the brains, i.e. AI. When coupled with robots, in 30 years, it will be a completely different society.
I also think so, we humans still have space to occupy some positions.
But it is clear that in the coming decades, AI will have greater prominence in different sectors than we currently see.
Many jobs (knowledge work) will be gone by the end of this decade.
My field of profession is threatened.
As a teacher, but I don't think that change will come in the next 30 years. I hope to retire by then 😅
The field will change radically, but the need remains. Look ahead and decide if what that looks like is something you still want to do. I used to be an educator, and the possibilities of AI in education have me considering a return.
You're right, thanks to AI tools, today we have access to information like we did before.
It's a great help and we don't need to think that they will replace us, but we can coexist together.
Tech eats the middle of jobs. The remaining roles often diverge into different specialisations.
That could happen very quickly. It is regulated so there is that defense. But expect thigns to go quickly.
I'm glad I'm here in case being a teacher in the future is a profession threatened by AI.
This will be a safe haven hahaha...
If we can integrate it into Leo, then we can ride #ai to our benefit. We are going to see how it can become a basic part of the platform.
LeoAi will certainly be very useful in this situation.
May these next few months pass quickly so we can have our
What do you think we can do with #leoai on the platform? Will we be able to generate images freely?
It's difficult to find websites that are free and that allow us to create high-quality images with AI.
That will not be part of #leoai to start. It is going to take a while for that to be added. Khal said maybe by the end of the year.
Ideogram.ai is a website that gives you 20 prompts.
So all I have to do is wait until the end of the year.
For Leoai. I would say that is a wise timeline. We might be able to push it quicker if LeoAI takes off and gets exceptional use. This will be true if we Leo Premium subs go up due to the addition of LeoAI.
Regarding the adoption of more Premium subscriptions, I have no doubt that it will increase considerably when LeoAi is implemented.
Looking forward to being able to use it here.
About Ideogram.ai, thanks for the tip. These 20 promts would be per month, right?
No 20 per day. Just use google or an email to sign in.
Great! Glad to know that!
What technologies are you excited about? and why it's AI?
That is a hard one to answer since they are interconnected.
AI is at the top but that is more an umbrella since there are so many facets. Tied to that is energy advancement which has to power this.
One thing I am interested in seeing is how we are going to interact with the internet as it goes spatial. Will be be AR? VR? Mixed? What are the devices?
That is going to be very interesting to see unfold.
It's not AI for me. It's high capacity network links. It's "cheap" to do 100G these days, and it's only getting cheaper. Every year, the price of network connection gets cheaper by a good margin.
I always imagined that it would be possible for me to see space travel where we humans would visit Mars and the Moon, for example.
I don't know if I'll be able to embark on one of these trips, but my children and grandchildren will certainly be able to.
I imagine it will be as common as if it were a small bus trip we take here. The next 50 years will be incredible for space exploration.
You will see a time when there are regular flights to the moon at least. I am not sure about Mars.
The moon will be fine with me.
Mars will actually take much longer.
It is like a 6 month trip. Too much in a tube.
It takes a long time... Traveling for a day and a half by car is exhausting, imagine half a year.

History -- Modern Marvels: The Crazy Evolution of Classic Gadgets (S14, E36) | Full Episode #documentariesonleo #historyonleo #technology
That is very true. We have come a very long way since the early days.
The last 20 years have been amazing and actually, from a societal standpoint, it was a down period for technology. The next 15 years will be on the upward curve.
It is certainly going to be interesting to watch the developments.
Do you like the idea of a technology threadcast?
Yes, I think it's a good idea. I like seeing what is being invented. Like the Roomba as a vehicle to entertain your pets.
LOL I am not sure that was the intended use case for it.
Pretty sure it wasn't. But it makes for funny videos to watch on social media.
We want that on Leo.
Can Leo take a bit of traffic from TicTok?
Think of getting the most miniscule of a percentage. What does that do for Leo?
Someone made a post about features they'd like on Leo and I suggested videos. Short form would be great, low cost, very easily CDN-able and high reward for both viewers, the platform and advertisers.
Videos are in the works. No clue when they will be released. Khal sent out a teaser thread about it earlier.
Excited to see them come to life!
Many of us are. We just have no idea when it is going to come.
The short videos on Leo would be an explosion of activity and here without a doubt could be a place that would work very well.
Hundreds or maybe thousands of videos every day. This would have a huge impact on the Leo economy.
That is my guess. We know shorts are very popular and take a great deal of attention. We can add a number of them throughout the day.
I ended up accidentally putting the answer to another comment here. LOL
Editing now.
Well, short videos will be very popular here. I have no doubt about that. It will be something very good for Leo's numbers. There are a lot of Tiktok addicts, I just hope some come here so we can shake this place up even more.
Yeah. We are not likely to bring TikTok people over but we can add to the usage that people have on here.
Yes it is true. Just the fact that we use it like Tiktok, we will have a large number of activities between us here.
As I said, the key is to establish a library of content. The more that i sin the database, the more that can be viewed. We get cat or dog videos on there, they are timeless. It is something we have to consider.
#web3 is so powerful because it follows technological trends. It is a technology and we are immersed in it. That can lead to exponential growth.

Unsupervised data mining is useful when you don't have a specific outcome you want to predict, but rather you want to explore a data set and understand more about its structure, patterns or groups.
In this case, let's say you have a data set of clients and you want to segment them based on things like preferences, behaviour, learn more about their spending patterns and things like that.
Who is into technology?
😇
not me
I know. Soon maybe?
Maybe one day, I’m just figuring out how to start a fire
Fire is high tech. Start with something easier..
A rock is a good introductory phase..
A key concept in data science is Data Mining, which is the process of exploring large sets of data to find valuable patterns in a business context
#newsonleo #technology #att
A couple years back, I was working for a bank which still had some services provided over copper lines. It was nice to get rid of them for fiber. I wonder if the last few branches still stuck on copper have been switched over yet.
Hard to know. Banking is an industry that is in transition. Many banks are closing branches while opening other ones...entering and leaving markets.
The ones that were on the old copper might have been closed for more desirable locations.
Possibly, I worked on a few "hot cuts"(moving one branch to a new site overnight so they can get running with 0 changes) and it was fine. Generally they tend to do infra upgrades though since new location cost way more than adding cables.
Banks are also weird places to work at. Proactive upgrades are denied, but if I make a mistake that costs us a year or two worth of my salary and nobody blinks an eye.

What confuses you the most about technology?
Not being able to go deeper!
What do you need help with? Anything you want to focus upon?
Usually its time problem... going deeper usually needs more time to absorb and learn about that specific technology.
Or in some cases, getting in contact with whom knows more about those things, which can take time. AI tools will greatly reduce that gap.
Supervised data mining is often more useful in a business context but unsupervised data mining can be very valuable to learn more about your customers, competitors and the general lay of the land.
What is the difference between the two in terms of how the mining is structured?
Basically, for supervised mining you need what we call "labelled" data, that is, you need a history of values for the variable you want to predict.
Let's use post rewards as an example. Imagine you want to create a model to predict your post rewards based on a set of variable such as post length, topic, day of the week you posted it and any other atribute you may want to include.
That is a typical supervised mining problem. In this case you will need a dataset with all your posts and the rewards you got on each of them. Then you can train a model to predict the rewards of your future posts.
Fascinating.
This is the type of stuff we need added to #leoai. Keep the explanations coming.
Great example.

Why companies are kicking cloud to the curb
#newsonleo #technology #cloud #computing
Hybrid approach is the best. While you are growing, and launching new products that you don't know the scale of, cloud makes sense. Once you are stable, start running your own ifra which can be soooo much cheaper.
I don't doubt there will be many people involved in this in the future.
#newsonleo #ai
Well it is the future at least for chatbots. We will see them become more prevalent and contoured to the individual.
Welcome to the future of machines.
probably robots will take over
Yeah! Without a doubt.
They will certainly outnumber the humans by the amount of 10 to 1. We are going to see tens of billions of robots although many will not be on Earth.
I will start to be afraid when one machine will produce another machine with artificial intelligence.
From then on, without the help of human hands, they will no longer need us.
Well the question is one of sentience. Will machines become "live"?
Not alive, but having your own conscience is scary hahaha...
Perhaps this point is another way of saying that machines are "alive", but not like us.

Do you think technology, if it destroys a lot of jobs, will lead to a crisis in meaning for people?
Definitely yes, the crisis is starting already, only those who upgrade their skills in AI related technology will remain relevant in the job market.
That is true there will be job losses.
But does that lead to a loss in meaning?
No, it doesn't lead to a lost in meaning, it will even make life easier and better as lesser human efforts are needed for work, just like the in the picture I shared in a comment above in this threadcast.
That is my view too although a lot seem to think that people will lose meaning if they lose their jobs.
Everyone will eventually find where they belong in the technology era. If you can't beat them, you join them. That's settled everything. Lol
People use it even when they try to avoid it. Everyone has a mobile these days. By default, they have the ability to ride the wave of telecommunications, as an example.
Cant avoid it.
I don't think so... People will bounce back!
I agree. I dont think most people derive meaning from their work. Most hate their jobs since they are actually paid drudgery.

Supervised data mining is when you have a predefined target variable you want to predict or explain. For example, let's say you have a set of clients and you want to predict the likelihood of them cancelling their current contract.
That's a typical supervised data mining problem.
The thing with supervised data mining is that you need quality data on the target variable to train your model. In our example, you need a history of clients who cancelled and clients who did not cancel their contracts to "feed" the model and train it.
Broadly speaking, Data Mining can be split into two categories: supervised and unsupervised.

I know I am. Working on a few robotics projects and it's been a very interesting endeavour
Time to share it all. We need to keep people abreast of what is going on. I believe this can be a major epicenter for information relating to technology.
We need to keep filling it up with valuable stuff. Variety will be the key.
