It's common for international futbol players of that caliber to get their final pay day in the United States (or North America). Even Pele did it, and he still had his skills. In sports such as baseball, it goes the other way: MLB to NPB.
Same with NFL football. @jongolson and I was chatting last night how the washed up NFL guys go to the CFL to get a final payday.
