Chasing airdrops is mostly a waste of time in my view. Maybe people can make something but it is, overall, based upon the percentages, a waste of time.

I agree with you. But I think it's a way to help create hype and awareness of a projects looking from the founders side of it.
It is a marketing tool but it is often used as a scam.
Again, people not looking at building but just getting free money. That is what it boils down too.
