Well it isnt going to give any privacy yet it does provide ownership. This is an advantage over the existing social media sites.
At some point, we might see a digital ID system tied to our own personal encrypted files that allows us to privately control all data.

I agree with the prediction of the digital ID system. When I say privacy I guess I refer to control over where our data is being processed/viewed. With a blockchain that becomes a matter of public knowledge
