Chris Kyle, often referred to as the "American Sniper," was tragically killed on February 2, 2013, at a shooting range in Erath County, Texas.
Eddie Ray Routh is the individual alleged and subsequently convicted of shooting Chris Kyle. Routh, a former Marine who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), shot Kyle and Kyle's friend, Chad Littlefield, during an outing intended to help Routh cope with his mental health struggles. Routh was found guilty of capital murder in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
