China’s new humanoid robot performs Tai Chi, could be Lenovo’s ‘silicon employee’

Global technology leader Lenovo has signaled a major strategic shift by unveiling its first humanoid robot, LeXiang No.1, at the company’s Tech World 2025 conference in Shanghai.

Positioning the robot as a future “silicon employee,” Lenovo’s move underscores its accelerating push into the fields of embodied intelligence and artificial intelligence.

The introduction of LeXiang No.1 highlights Lenovo’s ambition to evolve beyond its traditional hardware focus. Speaking at the Wednesday event, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing articulated this vision.
