RNG Network: The eggs are geographically distributed to capture global effects, with sites in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia. Each RNG produces a continuous stream of random data, theoretically expected to average 50% 0s and 50% 1s over time.
Hypothesis Testing: The GCP tests the hypothesis that during "global events"—moments of widespread emotional or attentional focus (e.g., 9/11, New Year’s celebrations, major natural disasters)—RNG outputs will show non-random patterns, such as increased correlations or deviations from expected means. Events are pre-registered in a hypothesis registry to avoid post-hoc bias, with over 500 events tested by 2017.
