As a real Chinese, I don't agree with Mr Friedman's understanding of Chinese dictator Xi's recent comment on private sector. Mr. Friedman took what Xi said as granted, thinking that China is now reemphasizing private sector and this is the most common mistake for the majority of the Western Chinese experts, that is, they can't see the real meanings of Chinese leaders' open speeches or CCP's propaganda, but take them as their basis of judging the Chinese economical environments. In this case, the reason that Xi was calling up so many big Chinese private business owners is to 1) restore the confidence of both foreign and Chinese investors that have been battled hard in Xi's recent years crackdown on private sectors to promote and consolidate the state-owned companies; 2) rescue the near free-fall Chinese economy.
