Spain decided to ban Worldcoin. Portugal is thinking about doing the same. I think people are exaggerating.

Let me explain...

First of all, most people don't understand how passwords work. Passwords shouldn't be stored in a database, companies are supposed to only store the hashed version of the passwords!

An "hash" of something is a unique identifier that you can always get with the original thing but you can't get the original thing from the hash.

Imagine X can create Y, but Y can't create X. They store Y and you guys keep X (which is the password).

Supposedly Worldcoin does the same thing, they only store hashes, which means, they won't be able to get the original "iris" with that hash, this is how iris login is supposed to work!

Now, they do have a feature in the Orb that people can opt in to store the original, but it always asks the users what they want to do.

We don't need bans, we need oversight to make sure the orb works like they say.
