Today I'm moving onto day 8 of the Christmas wish list! So far I've picked some really pricey coins, but today's is a little more affordable. While this one may not be pirate treasure it is pretty cool. Once again I'm moving back to the theme of the upcoming year of the dragon next year. It's almost becoming mind boggling the number of countries and mints that are producing dragon coins, there will certainly be a plethora to choose from. Today's pick comes from a small island nation in the South Pacific, Niue. They produce an astounding number of commemorative coins each year, and it must certainly help to fund their government.

Isn't that a really nice coin? Best of all it's somewhat more affordable at $230 US. The crystal inlaid is a Swarovski, a very high end jeweler. I'm not sure what type of crystal it is but it's a great accent to the colorized dragon. It's also nice that it has a little heft to it at two Troy ounces of pure silver! It has a pretty small mintage as well some it's very likely to appreciate in value in the next few years. Maybe Santa will be kind and gift it to me!
The South Pacific is one place I have never visited, as a matter of fact I've never made it to Hawaii. Most of my island living was in the Caribbean, which was a really nice place to live! So I decided to look up some pictures from Niue and it is gorgeous! I've included a couple below, the water looks amazingly clear and beautiful. Just imagine snorkeling or diving in those waters. Just amazing! I'm definitely adding this one to the bucket list of places to visit!

This one would be a flip in my opinion, not my favorite dragon coin but limited runs from Niue the last few years tend to double or triple in price.

Very cool. It almost looks like it is 3D in some of the pictures! Either that or a hologram.
Niue is really producing nice coins this next year. It seems that nice colorization technology is quickly finding it's way to numismatic world. I' not usually a huge fan of colorized coins but this one is just funky enough it might double in value!
I agree with you. I've seen a number of colorized coins and I haven't been a fan of them. This one is pretty cool though.

I'm not sure how it's done, but it seems that colorization in coins is finally getting high tech. I expect the next couple years we're going to see some really interesting coins appearing on the market!
I would also imagine they spent a bit to have a Swarovski crystal inlayed!😀
