This is good for THORChain.
In the ecosystem there always existed two camps: those who wanted decentralization at all costs, and those who weren't ready to pay these costs. The second camp seems to be exiting.
It's understandable: not everyone wants to deal with the Feds breathing down their necks every time something out of their control happens.
But someone has to, otherwise this whole thing is meaningless. Go back to the permissioned CEX world, it's an easier dev lift.
THORChain was built on high-minded ideals of decentralization, but many key members realized that this is impossible with doxxed people, bank accounts, US jurisdiction-based infra, etc.
Better late than never!
@mayaprotocol was built correctly from the start: pseudonymous people outside of the US, no bank accounts, no token inflation, tokenomics built right, etc. The Mayans now show the path forward for THORChads.
100% agree. I like thorchain as fully decentralized as possible, but that is just me.
Maybe Mayachain takes the banner from here on out.
I still hold out some hope for thorchain though. They still have inertia.
Both together.
I think that just because of not that much of decentralization (almost all countries in which nodes are situated are in "western" countries. If the decentralization is like on bitcoin, that would be great and fully decentralized, not today.
Excellent evolution!!
For similar reasons, it's very important, imho, that many Hive witnesses & full nodes be set up outside of the US and as physical servers (not AWS or Goolag Cloud abstractions), and be run off the banking grid.
It'd be awesome if some Dashers could set up Hive nodes in such a fashion 🙃.
Would be interesting for sure!
decentralization is the reason most blockchains are growing rapidly and there has to be a cost to pay to achieve, am happy they followed that path.
Yeah, Maya wasn't involved in blocking addresses from the hack. That's some regulated centralized exchange action. Thorchain proved that they will bow to the higher ups when asked.
Now I don't condone the crime, but I also don't condone the protocol level censorship. If they do it to them, they can do it to anyone!
THORChain also reversed the decision. The community and nodes came together and decided decentralization is where it's at.
Oh I had not heard that. Thanks for the update.
So much news, so fast!
Indeed. decentralization isn't something you can tip-toe back and forth with it. It must be there from inception and sustained.
It must be a hard and fast rule.
