Here we are in late 2026 and we still see people spreading the fake "EU bans privacy coins" FUD.
Not only is it not true, but spreading it can cause some companies to mistakenly think that it is and pre-emptively delist anyway.
Effective anti-privacy propaganda. 😒
Actually, there’s some truth to the EU privacy coin ban concerns. Recent AML regulations set to take effect by 2027 will prohibit anonymous crypto accounts and privacy coins like Monero and Zcash. It’s not FUD, it’s based on real policy updates
And how will they enforce it? Me having a 16 digit number on my PC is kinda hard to enforce anything. They have not enough resources for that.
Enforcement is definitely a challenge. While they can't directly access your private keys, the EU can pressure exchanges and service providers to delist privacy coins like Monero by 2027 under AML rules. It’s more about ecosystem control than personal policing
I don't use CEX to buy privacy coins lol. Makes the privacy really not private at all. DEX is the future
DEXs definitely offer more privacy since they’re outside centralized control. The EU’s focus will likely be on regulated platforms, but peer-to-peer trading could still slip through the cracks of their 2027 AML rules
That only impacts custodial services, and fully-KYC individuals will probably be fine.
